Misc Cold Season Complaining

Remember a few days ago when we all were amazed at how every model was showing a major winter storm and how good of a signal it was? Good times.
 
You know, this is the 2nd week in a row that we're trying to defy climatology, relative to where your back yard is. I just find it interesting.

It's always been hard to snow here, very hard. But it's been even harder the last 3 years. Harder than it should be. I guess we're still paying for 1-16-22. That was a top 5 daily snowfall at GSP.
 
This thing isn’t over til the immediate coast sweats the rain line. It’s coming. This isn’t a bomb cyclone. You just can’t hold a storm like this with roots in the gulf for 7 days. I don’t think it can be done. But I’m just a guy

The thing for me, and we saw guidance pointing to it over a week ago, is 3 branches of the jet stream (sub-tropical, sub polar and polar) are phasing over the eastern US. Often times when that happens you get a big storm. If you would hand me the 300mb map below @114hrs and ask me to draw in surface features I would have a deapening lp coming out of the Gulf.

I have to admit, when I hear triple phase I get a little woozy🤪

Just based upon the amount of messages in this compared to Jan 21-24 thread,
Tells me all I need to know!
It hurts to lose a storm but it's like a kick in the balls to lose it to the coast!
Hoping for a miracle but I think we're dead N of 85.
Congratulations to the I-20 or I 95 crowd!

Brett and I use to chase tornados all over the South using nothing but GRLevelX, the first Verizon hotspot device that ever came out, and cell phones. We’ve been in some good ones together. Love seeing his success and his family grow.

we all certainly pay the price for the extreme cold. It’s a balance. Back to spring. Maybe get your threat in Feb or March who knows. Price will be heavy according to the Gods for all this precip and cold extreme next week.
