serious answer is that yes if it's wrong on the 5h deepening/north surge then its thermals are going to be off. frankly i don't know what to do with the nam, it's an outlier but it's depiction makes synoptic sense. if there's one thing about it i would criticize, it's that its depiction of front running precip seems totally dry and totally off compared to the rest of the models, and i've noticed it has had weird qpf holes before
 
Seems like MBY verbatim has 2-4” on most modeling, BUT we are 50 miles away from disaster. Scary times, hard to feel confident. Seems the Wake County snow gradient is showing up across the board, but fortunately I’m 25 minutes NW of RDU airport.

I don't even know what we want anymore! Lol... I just want winter weather, but crap it shouldn't be this difficult. Need it positive tilt, flat, more neutral, northern part negative, pump ridges, baja crud, fires, smoke, 4200 models to analyze, AI, warm noses, cold columns, 540 line, mountain torque, mjo, apps runner, phased, Hallelujah! Holy Sh*t! Where's the tylenol!

Said it a few days ago, but this is upper echelon in terms getting all the pieces together to make this work. It’s truly a minor miracle the progress we made to even get to this point
 
I want all the snow but man stepping back, the way this is playing out really is fascinating - probably easier saying that in my location buttttt ya know. After the last few years seeing anything is a win so I’m kinda at peace with whatever
 
At the end of the day, I think for CLT, I’m pretty much hoping for that initial band to can set up, give us a nice thump of snow that gives that snow globe effect with enough to cover the ground during the daylight hours, then hold off on that transition until it gets dark out.

I’ve resigned myself awhile ago toward this certainly having a warm nose force us into a sloppy sleet fest, but I just would like that to happen after I can’t see it anymore.

I hate sleet. It sucks. Whenever I hear it, it just sounds like Mother Nature laughing at me as it throws my snow somewhere to my NW.

If the NAM verifies and leaves CLT without so much as a flake, I quit 😂 (until I inevitably come back at the first hint of a tantalizing H5 map)
 
Does anyone know what our longest, in terms of number of pages, storm threads have been?

Yes give us 1-2” of snow and sleet on top to pile up and I’ll be happy as can be

Ik it’s a yearly thing now…. But he used to be the biggest Weenie in the Metro. You knew if you wanted a bullish outlook go to WCNC, Channel 9 Udelson was Conservative and Channel 3 Erik Thomas was always in the Middle. Now, Brad try’s to downplay everything, like actively try’s. I honestly think we could have 12” plus on every piece of Data and he wouldn’t broadcast more than 3-6”. No warm nose present at all he’d say “I just don’t see these big totals bc Sleet will mix in” He used to get burned constantly though until about 2014

DP of 7 in CAE. Not good if wanting no ice. Clouds supposedly will take until after midnight to arrive, but idk about that.

I'm sure you've analyzed it closer than me for CAE... but I don't see how you guys avoid a warning criteria ice event.
