Stick a fork in 'er. On the southern edge 8 days out is not going to pan out well in my favor when the last minute northward shift kicks in.
feel like the 12z suite so far has been a solid step in the right direction for most on this board and i feel disillusioned seeing the whining
and it will be warm and lily will sprout.
The majority on here do not know what to look for beyond pretty snow map

All flat? It was so weird to visit Midland in 2018 and it be 2800 feet above sea level but nearly completely flat.

Should have known when models was showing cold and possible fantasy snows for the south not to get to caught up in it. I feel like once again some of us will have our hearts broken knowing the same areas that will be getting a snowstorm this weekend may get another repeat again.
Some should not post read even think about responding to someone using logic concerning weather modeling if they are to wrapped up in wishcasting. It is a fool's errand.

3 year snow drought and everyone has a right to be pessimistic especially in the complaining thread. Even if it's the gfs that shows no cold! Because in the last 3 years not one bit of optimism has worked out for most of us.
Honestly that did cross my mind. Something about tendency trends in a given winter. Somebody posted about this several years ago. Snow kind of trains over the same area. Is it Va. this winter?

The GEFS has many suppressed solutions and many cold and dry ones, too, like the GEM, through 168 hours. I see maybe three or four solutions that bring snow to Atlanta. This isn't going to be clear for a few days, yet.

That's it. That's the whole reason I say it won't snow. It's based on emotion but for some reason it won't snow here and I'm in the I'll believe it when I see it mode. But taking emotions out it's still too soon to know. The ensembles have proven so useless. Just look what the EPS showed a couple days ago and completely lost. Seems like the Euro op caught the Jan 22 snow 144 hrs out. Don't remember any ensemble talk before that so they must have not shown anything then either. Come Monday if we have op runs agreeing on amped and rain or cold and dry then it's over imo

GEFS has most precip falling over Atlanta as rain if it has any at all. Trends are really bad for Atlanta for snow. Probably should pull back on expectations. Today is probably the end of the excitement for the Atlanta people.

Wouldn’t worry too much. When in doubt just refer back to this famous @Rain Cold rule of thumb which is to get the moisture first and worry about the cold later

Go ahead and start picking your chase locations. Make sure to pick a room with same day cancellation that way when the rain snow line jumps another 75 miles 3 hours before the storm starts you will be able to cancel the room and book another one further north

Just go to Southern Indiana this weekend, you'll probably see a foot of snow.
Oh, there's gonna be plenty of cold for sure. But if it takes an extra week for a storm to form, there may be issues....kind of like what @ILMRoss has been talking about.
I'm feeling pretty good about my Boston reservation, but have a northwest option if needed.
