Maybe the negative NAO is finally awake after being asleep for so longQuite the -NAO showing up, not much of a effect now tho View attachment 88982View attachment 88983
I love big brotherI have decided to use the power of veto on myself. HOH, since I have removed myself off, you must choose a replacement nominee for eviction.
Looks like winter with a crap pac offsetting a good Atlantic. That would be a rainy pattern for us thoughQuite the -NAO showing up, not much of a effect now tho View attachment 88982View attachment 88983
Sun angle doing down , length of day going down. Amount of evaporation happening in a day is going down. Takes less rain to keep us out of drought , albeit probably not that much less than peak summer just yet.Good news is that I don’t see a real signifigant time period where we don’t see some sort of relief in the flow with a front of some tropical moisture connection that gives us rain… still would suspect drought conditions will continue to not be a story for the SE for a while
Done broke out my long Johns and long sleeve shirts Brent… could swore summer was over with or about lol100 degrees here. Fun times since summer is over
It got 95 here today. Good thing the dog days are over, or we might have hit 100. ?Done broke out my long Johns and long sleeve shirts Brent… could swore summer was over with or about lol
At least the sun angle is much lower which makes it more tolerable. Plus the days are much shorter so it cools down earlier in the evening. It got 95 here today. Good thing the dog days are over, or we might have hit 100. ?

I respectfully disagree. I can definitely tell the sun is less intense which makes a difference to me.You think it's more tolerable? 100 feels the same as it did last month![]()
Like your optimism at least …I respectfully disagree. I can definitely tell the sun is less intense which makes a difference to me.
Fall weather looks completely off the table for at least 2 weeks.Don't see much reason to believe much of NC can't reach the mid 90s Friday and upper 90s Saturday and Sunday then mid 90s Monday and Tuesday before easing back down to around 90 mid next week
Yep as long as we are looking at thisFall weather looks completely off the table for at least 2 weeks.
Hopefully by mid-September we start cooling off. I can't even stomach the thought of widespread 90s into October.Yep as long as we are looking at thisView attachment 88999
Forget about fall. Maybe by the week of the 5th we can see this break up a little. I'd be keeping my eyes glued to the tropics over the next 10-14 door is wide open but with the ridge that strong we might just see a parade into south Texas/ northern mexico

My job requires me to work more when there is a "bad" weather event; specifically anything that floods roads. It kills me to hope storms stay away since I'm also a weather nerd. But for right now, I sure hope you're right...Yeah I was thinking about the tropics and it looks to my eye that the SE will continue to be spared. Ridge placement favors south tracks and by the time it breaks down, we'll probably be in cold front season.

I wonder if 98 degrees is hotter in May or October? ??At least the sun angle is much lower which makes it more tolerable. Plus the days are much shorter so it cools down earlier in the evening.
It’ll be a trough tomorrowWe might end up hotter late next week into that weekend

That would be nice but unless we get some tropical systems thrown into the mix in the west pac or Atlantic it's going to take retrograding the high lat blocking to get a trough in the east, building the trough under the block or November. Not sure which comes firstIt’ll be a trough tomorrow

Well this sucks and CAMs not terribly excited about convection today and tomorrow either. We will surely bake this weekend and most of next week, I don't care what days of summer have ended or the freaking sun angle, its gonna suckThat would be nice but unless we get some tropical systems thrown into the mix in the west pac or Atlantic it's going to take retrograding the high lat blocking to get a trough in the east, building the trough under the block or November. Yep even with the front next week we just go back to average. Maybe we get lucky and cut something off late next week on the eastern side of the ridge but that doesn't seem likely.Well this sucks and CAMs not terribly excited about convection today and tomorrow either. Even in limited statewide coverage, they are smart enough to put that dot over Wilsonville-Jordan Lake. We know dey gone get dat rain.
