Pattern Ablazing August

Where the CU today? Ridge is definitely winning versus yesterday we are likely waiting much later to get any convection and will need outflow or a weak shear axis/mcv to to the NW to get anything going
Thank goodness I have the mountains ??

Seeing CU form to my south slowly Inching this way probably still some MLcin from yesterday’s stuff

RDU up to 94 (heat index of 104) as of 1 PM, Heat Advisory out. Summer is at its peak.

KRDU's 94 at 1 PM was 2+ hotter than the vast majority of official stations in the entire SE US. Athens, Ga, was one of the only other ones that hot. Meanwhile, KATL was only 89 and KSAV only 87. Beaufort, SC, was close at 93. A real oddity is that the waterfront Charleston, SC, station was way up at 93..weird to say the least, especially with the wind coming from the S off the water while well inland KCHS with sunny skies was only 89!! That's a head scratcher for sure and is the kind of thing that makes following temperatures fascinating. So, Beaufort and downtown CHS, two stations near the water and not too far apart (49 miles), are two of the hottest!
