Severe 3/24-3/26 possible severe wx

In Newnan proper, per the latest census estimate, the city has over 41K people.

In unincorporated Newnan, that numbers go up to about as high as 90K.

It's a major health care and retail hub too. Certainly no small town.

My brother was stationed there 2 years ago. I grew up outside Atlanta and hadn't been to Newnan in 20 yrs when I went to visit him there. The growth of the area and was unreal! Ya'll, there isn't room to breathe there. This is horrific.

Newnan was in the SLIGHT RISK to start the day. Just goes to show you should ALWAYS be weather aware on days like this.

As is common with convection, their mesoscale effects kind of messed up the whole surface pattern compared to what the models showed as the elevated prefrontal activity from this morning turned into the main show while MS and TN were (relatively) spared.

For the folks who always want to cry "bust" in the middle of a significant weather event, this is a very hard lesson about the power of the Jinx...

I hope he's safe.
I ‘m a she and no we were given so much confusing info it was not even funny. Some said the storms were going to stay up north by Rome. Then they were supposedly dying off in Alabama. But I live about 5 minutes from Newnan. We personally kept power and had no damage. But the Downtown Newnan area was hit hard. Newnan is a very nice town and it will recover. But can I ask why some much hate is directed at me when even long time posters were saying it was busting?

Not everyone on here is a weather weenie. Some come here just to get info and when they see people post in absolutes they take it at face value. That’s what the poster you are attempting to smack down did. Instead of raining gif shame on her maybe just provide perspective. Or we can become American. Either way...

It wasn't directed just at you.

But the reason I highlighted your post specifically is because your location ended up being once the hardest hit after you were declaring this event a "dud." It's why *NO ONE* should be downplaying the potential of these weather events before they happen and when they're in progress.
