Thanks! I was wondering how many times and a quick google was not helping. Do you know the other dates it occurred?This is apparently only the 6th 45% (or greater) tornado risk ever issued by the SPC.
The sun and heat helping fuel storms are just one ingredient of many for tornadoes to form. It can help limit the chances if cloudy but in no way means tornadoes aren’t possible just because it’s cloudy before hand. The Nashville ef3 tornado last March is probably a great example of this. That day just didn’t feel like a bad tornado day and wasn’t very warm that I recall.It is still pretty cloudy in Birmingham. If the sun can’t break out today does that lessen the chance of tornadoes occurring?
