It was good because I went to the mountains skiing, and it snowed all day and all the way home. It was very disappointing because when I got home to clt, had a couple melty inches. Not quite cold enough. That won't happen this time though right?
The heaviest snows with that storm just seemed to skip right over southern Mecklenburg County. I think it had to do with the way energy transferred to the coast to form the new low. CLT only had 2” while over my way in eastern Union County we had around 6.

Got 4.5-5” of snow with that storm. I was still happy with it and somehow got a lightning strike with it at the very end I still remember that thundersnow to this day

I got in on that deform band as the coastal low started cranking up early in the morning on the 26th… I was only in it for a couple hours but it was some of the best rates I’ve ever seen. Of the 6.2” I got from that storm 4.7” fell between 4am and 6am.
Yeah I got in it big time, amazing rates, 11" total.... can we get a repeat please ?

Nothing wrong with that storm. Christmas was on a Saturday and then got to enjoy the day after sledding with my two oldest kids with temps in the 20s as a steady light snow fell all day

Yep, at the time I lived in NW Charlotte. The further east you went, seems more snow fell. Fro just gets more snow than me no matter where I go.

It was raining Christmas morning into lunch and I was like “oh here we go again.”

Then when we were eating Christmas lunch at my late Grandpa’s house it flipped and never stopped snowing. Wet snow and I don’t remember getting much more than 4” because ground temps were borderline here but what a storm. Once in a lifetime event. Core memories.

Man what’s coming up, it’s more exciting then usual because it’s been such a long time since a good pattern occurred in December
Talking about Christmas storm 2010, that one was a lock from a week out over on AmericanWX. Then local mets talked about it like it was a sure thing for 5 days before it happened. It was a no doubter. Primetime setup. Someone post some forecast maps.

Many times too I think, December generally sets the stage for what we see the entire winter. 10-11 was that way I believe. Be really cool if we can stay blocky at least through January.

I mean it’s not just been that we’ve not had a good pattern in December… we’ve had very little in the way of cold air. Christmas Day in shorts and flip flops is getting a little old

Don’t forget when the models basically lost the storm on the 23rd and had most of us staying dry and then they started bringing it back in the morning on Christmas Eve
