@Tarheel1 I'm going to be driving through Dubuque in about a month. Anything interesting to do there? Already have plans to see the Field of Dreams down the road.
I’m assuming this will be your first trip Dubuque zz?? If you are able to eat, definitely try Copper Kettle, best restaurant around here, IMO.
A fun little thing is the 4th street elevator, it’s neat and view up top is amazing. Any view of the river is awesome, you can get a really nice view from Eagle Point Park. I’ll think on it some more. Are you just driving through, or staying a night?

Could always hang out with him but his idea of fun is a bag of potato chips , beers , and Jerry springer. When he runs out of beer he hops on his John Deere lawn mower and drives it to the nearest gas station to buy more beer ( happens out here lmao). He is really just a grown up version of Beavis & Butthead
Everybody uses gators and other side by sides! We are classier than to ride lawn mowers!?

First time in Iowa. Have a week off and needed to get out of the house, so I'm taking a random road trip. I'll be leaving St. Louis that morning and have a hotel booked in Cedar Falls. I figure to leave early from STL to avoid traffic, so I'm guessing I'll be in the area by noon or so and have several hours to visit.

I tend to be a light eater when I'm traveling, but I can definitely check out Copper Kettle for lunch. I love a good craft beer.

I see there's an aquarium in town, is it any good? I'm a sucker for aquariums and museums. I'm also a degenerate gambler so I think I'll stay away from the casinos, lest I blow all my travel cash.

You nailed it. Unfortunately we are dealing with a party in charge whoose leaders and followers truly think a government can decide whats better for individuals and that every individual should should just fall in line. Wow. America used to stand for freedom, hope, opportunity, and the power of the people. Now half the country literally fights against those ideals.

I don't really think it's a party issue.

I consider myself to be a Social Democrat (you can google it if you don't know what it means) and I'm generally disgusted by both the Democrats and Republicans. And I will also admit, for a long time, I did support the draconian lockdowns that were being proposed to stop the spread of the virus.

But since red states (especially Florida and Georgia) have been virtually wide open for over a year now without the worst case scenarios occurring, I've come around to the perspective that lockdowns aren't necessarily the solution to stop COVID spread. Besides that, the government has failed to actually pass measures that would ensure folks who were involuntarily displaced from their jobs/businesses could still support themselves while staying home.

That being said, I also consider myself to be a "live and let live" person when it comes to social issues. Instead, people from both parties want to use the power of the government to impose their social views on others. It just so happens to be the Democrats this time on the issue of COVID.

I would never support forcing an individual to take an experimental vaccine against their will to participate in society, especially when there are no means for them to seek damages in the court of law if something goes wrong.

I think there are literally 500 bars in Dubuque! I’m in Cedar Falls quite a bit, it’s only 1 1/2 hours from me. You should definitely checkout the National Riverboat museum, it has neat stuff and some aquariums and is right on the river. I’m not big into beer, but downtown there’s a place called 7 Hills Brewery, the best boneless wings I’ve had in DBQ and crap ton of craft beers and a huge bar! It’s a cool place

Stay away from the Casinos! I just went to the dog track the other week, it’s addicting! You will/should notice, Dubuque is very hilly and not unlike the piedmont’s of the Carolinas, by the time you’re in cedar Falls, it looks like Death Valley! You will be making the track from DBQ to CF, on highway 20, it’s a straight, boring, 2 lane road, and tons and tons and tons of cornfields?

@SD - my yard needssss rain omgggy it’s so dry

@SD- after lots of rain.... omg I need more rain

@SD- omg my yard is dead because of fungus ! I need more rain ! ( now you may be saying to yourself doesn’t fungus thrive in moist conditions, so why does he want more rain? Does he want to turn his yard into a mushroom farm ?).

No dummy I used a ------ fertilizer because I wanted to be greedy and get instant green versus a slow release, too much N=fungus proliferation. The thing is once you have the fungus dry conditions actually exacerbate the issue. Additionally I would like the rain to make sure the fungicide I have in the yard gets watered in well

I’m sure you knew more and had a reason I just wanted to tease you a bit . :p Stop being greedy Shane!

I should have learned from DMX.

I think I'm finally winning though. It's been an epic battle this ---- resilient. I'm just really disappointed and kicking myself bc it's my own fault. I was at HD and just said I'll grab this bag of fertilizer and didn't do my homework 3 years of busting my ass in this yard that started as dirt and its gone in 2 weeks

Pack ASAP. From what I remember Mexico is the place we need to go to survive.

That would be hilarious actually . I’m not really sure what it would to us here , if anything since we are on the east coast of a continent and our weather mostly is influenced by the continent . Maybe a drier more stable climate perhaps . The higher sea level on east coast thing would be true though if the currents shut down . Let’s do it , this will be fun if you ask me!

I wonder if it'll screw up wedges since we would have a flatter temp gradient
Pretty much , weaker gradient , weaker mid latitude storms . No more Jan 2000 type scenarios . I think it would make for a climate with slightly cooler summers and near identical winters but much more stable . No more 84 degree days with dews near 70 on Christmas on the coast .
