People hate ice storms, and it's weird to cheer them on, because they're disruptive to daily activities (business or personal) and destroy things that are expensive to replace.

All places with a high population density deal with poor air quality, but you never hear about them grinding to a halt because of it, nor do you hear about massive infrastructure failures or costly property damage due to poor air quality

Perhaps you have a different opinion of what an ice storm is then? As someone who grew up in the middle of CADsville NC, I saw many "ice storms". Very very few of them caused widespread impacts like the impression you're giving.

Also, 99% of the world population breathes pollutants above the levels that WHO considers safe. But this isn't causing roofs to collapse, supply chains to shut down , power lines to snap or roads/highways to shut down because of car pile ups

They got back to me quickly and disqualifications have gone out. It turns out that indeed, air pollution affects a lot more people globally than everything else.
