Misc 2021-22 Fall/Winter Whamby Thread

I know many people would like this to come like 100 miles northwest, but honestly I just don’t see it happening. The front that starts all this comes through in 48 hours on Thursday. The Euro has trended southeast for the past 3 runs. I just don’t see there being time for a trend reversal that big to happen. Sure the GFS trended northwest, but it’s northwestern shifts have stopped at least for now and seem to have met the Euro midway. I could be completely wrong, and I’d definitely like to see what the short range models have to say before saying that more northwestern areas won’t be in the bullseye, but this is looking more and more like a SE Virginia and NE/Central North Carolina storm as the models hone in on it. These areas haven’t scored in a long time, and I think they (myself included lol) deserve a decent storm lol. While the QPF does tend to overperform on the NW side in these events and hopefully that would put more people into the game, that wouldn’t necessarily be a NW trend.

Wait for the higher resolution/meso models to identify precipitation expansion. Globals struggle

If the Euro is right alot of people in NC outside the mountains get a decent snow.

One thing you must keep in mind, times are a changin'. Thangs dont work like they once did.
There have been long stretches of no snow storms in Atlanta. Early 2000's were blank or really light events. Also, some really heavy snows have fallen near Atlanta in recent years, but just not at the official recording site. It's a crap shoot in Atlanta. I guess we need more volcanoes erupting and a real grand solar minimum to change things.

This is the longest snowless stretch in recorded history for Atlanta.

Ban all the real Mets on here! We got birdbrain, accu35,and Jimmy

I got a light dusting in a few patchy areas.

A cursory look at any of the models should give you hope of getting more than that over the next couple of weeks. I mean the prospects for accumulating snow look about as good as they can for us. And yes the sunshine is great. We had 2+ inches two days ago And now I just got in a round of lunchtime tennis with the wife. Life is good!

I'm standing outside in the beautiful sunshine and asking myself why I am wishing for snow. This sunshine feels really good.

You know I'm really torn about this winter because well my job is driving around delivering and if we actually get a snowstorm I'm gonna be stuck at home ? (which I hardly take a day off because I hate being home too long) and I actually have been liking the warmer days in between the fronts

But on the other hand my expectations are higher here for snow vs where I've lived before. It's definitely a weird winter for me

Only at the airport. Stop being dramatic. The northwestern side of Atlanta got 12 in of snow back in 2017. I'm pretty sure that caught up those people with any snow droughts.
