Misc 2021-22 Fall/Winter Whamby Thread

Burlington looks to be where the freezing line sets up in central NC. That’s about 30 miles from my house…that 30 miles is going to be the difference in having power and not having power.

Get an extra long extension cord, set up a fan in Burlington, blow it towards your house and you won't have to run the AC

I've self declared a Winter Slop Watch for myself and most in the Triangle. Conditions are favorable that no matter what falls initially, it will be a sloppy muddy wet mess by Sunday evening.

I can't figure out if I just had a post deleted in here, or if I just never sent it. Maybe I just need more coffee.
It it was posted in the whamby thread I doubt it got deleted, have another cup or two and try again Lol

However, if arguing ensues and you have issues with other posters either ignore them or PM them, we probably will not let that go on even in here. Thanks

That's what happens when you warm up the planet. The Dinosaurs didn't have any snow to track lol.

Well I'm sure he's gonna enjoy his ICE storm he's fixing to get

They are hit or miss. We've seen a few where they over performed by inches (believe it was 14 and 15 where they we bonkers) and some where we got a day of virga
Dewpoints have me scared. How long will it take to moisten, what will our wetbulb get to...

Betworthy.

So, is the most exciting part of this storm going to be how long it takes for insitu CAD to erode with screaming waa?

Im curious
Yeah to me it’s just how early can we start precip, can we start with more sleet/snow, and then how long till we flip ZR then rain

Then you’ve got the usual caveats of the strength and staying power of the CAD, does the low track well east of the area or right next door, imo there’s enough uncertainty/wiggle room that the watch was warranted

If you wanted Snow in Ga, Upstate, or NC this has always been a 85 North Storm.

BRUH campus workers have accidentally washed away some of the brine they put down yesterday
Also there’s no brine on those downhill sidewalks at the court in front of 1911 building. I know where I’m taking my Chick-fil-A tray sled before we flip to rain

For your sake, I hope you're on the west side of chapel hill. This looks to have a crazier west to east temp gradient then most. Might even outperform Roxboro in this setup. lol

I've never understood the spraying brine down on streets when we almost always start as rain if it does snow. I assume it works, otherwise, why would they do it, but it's hard to understand how it's helping.

So less than 48 hours out, I am getting somewhere between a trace of snow, .07 ZR to 5 inches of snow and .75 of ZR. Nice to narrow it down like that. ?
I'm getting from a dusting to 9 inches and from 0 to .25 of zr. Now there's more models to show more things that don't align with others! Awesome!

They've got half of Wake at around 1'' accumulation before the changeover. Ice is less than .25'' for now. Which makes me think it was more for snow/sleet criteria than ice.
