Misc 2021-22 Fall/Winter Whamby Thread

What in house model is WRAL in RAH using? They have the LP going west to east off the coast and barely bringing any precipitation inland except some light snow for far eastern NC, and the bulk of the precip is off the coast. Totally goes against the grain of what we are seeing with the major models.
Jma apparently

I have no idea, but they've always been crazy conservative on anything wintry, or at least since I've lived here. Even more so than RAH, and that's saying something.

I often wonder if they just pick the least wintry solution and go with it--regardless of any other reasoning. (which unfortunately is often right)

I am curious as to what their in house model is. Probably a blend?

All hail the Icosahedral Nonhydrostatic

ICON looks wonky. I could be wrong but it seems like it’s not capturing dynamic cooling. Also the system looked slower on this run

ALRIGHT 200 A NIGHT. Sitting beside a gravel rd thats 20 miles long takes you through the heart of South mtns. I'll even include breakfast and pull you out if you get stuck. And for an extra 50 ill be your tour guide. Any takers lmao

Part of me wants to see this crash and burn just to see the fallout but I won't wish that on the mods.

I think the vast majority of us are fully aware of a very high bust potential outside of the mountains and upper south. Our expectation should be that this is all fun and games until 72 hours out. I mean 48 hours out.

It's hard to tell reading the storm thread. I don't understand why every year it's the same thing? It seems like they would learn a little by reading but many don't bother and just look at pictures.
