Did some digging, found that Hogback Mountain SC (3200’, far northeast Greenville Co), which is the location of the WSPA TV tower, has recorded gusts over 80mph within the past decade (on a station mounted 230’ up the tower) and there is supposed gusts over 100mph in the late 1960s.

If you are referring to the top of Sugar Mtn NC, they get over 40 inches of snow per year on average. Beech Mtn MC, just up the road, holds the record with over 100 inches recorded in a single winter.
