Understandable. I’ve been trying to keep from getting involved since I know I’ll get my hopes up for nothing.
I'm more excited about the potential for a hard sought after/rare general cold pattern as I hardly ever get wintry precip. way down here. I would think folks would just be happy for it to be cold as opposed to the endless SER dominated warmth. Of course, some like Brick, want it warm if no wintry preicp.

Yeah that's the only thing that has my interest for now. It's not going to get really cold, but it should get below average and maybe give us some lows in the 20s. It'll be nice for it to feel somewhat like winter and maybe work toward a below normal December. But that cart/horse stuff right now. Let's just get chilly first.
Canada needs to really cool down. I know it's routinely said that having above normal anomalies in Canada still means it's cold up there. While that's true, it's kind of misleading, if we're hoping to have a legit shot at widespread winter weather here. Mild cold isn't usually going to get the job done in that regard, particularly this early in the season, unless every single last domino falls absolutely exactly perfectly right.
The ser and 70s in winter has worn out its welcome the last few years. But I'll take seasonal if its not gonna snow. Bone chilling cold and dry really makes me an unhappy cat!

I agree. There is no way Winnipeg can be in the mid 20s for lows and anyone really expect that air to make a 1500 mile journey down here and still be cold enough to produce.

Yeah. The folks wanting this pattern we're headed to next week to repeat come January will probably be adisappointed with the result. Now granted its much better than a -PNA and ser combo as it only needs a little tweaking to be good. Normally January is our best shot to get snow here in NC but it has sucked the last two years.

Pittsburgh is a city I've been looking into possibly relocating to... Never been there but from the pictures I've seen it looks beautiful. Low cost of living too. Anyone ever spent time there ?
Used to go through there at least once a month for 5 years. It is beautiful. Western PA is where I'd choose if I wanted to live in PA. I caution you though, don't move north just for snow. Chances are you'd be sick of it quick.

Oh trust me I wouldn't move somewhere purely for weather reasons. Honestly Pittsburgh probably gets a little too much snow for my liking, and the roads seem hilly there which could make it somewhat difficult to drive during the winter.

I'm no pro met or super pattern recognition guru, but I've been around for a bit. I'm currently at a loss as to why there's an actual thread in existence, with 30 pages of posts mind you (10 in the last day or so), and arguably not even a true weenie run in the whole thread. I haven't read the last day of posts so maybe I need to catch up?
I'm a weenie for sure, but I just don't see it. I'm still waiting for us to thaw Alaska, then we can play some games in a few weeks.

Believe it or not there are people on here who actually don't live in NC. I believe there have been quite a few models over the last few days that showed a good bit of snow in much of TN.

Speaking of nam it’s beginning to come into range for severe weather, normally I don’t take the hour 84 nam serious but this does look like somewhat well placed, worth noting warm sector was heading north here

Yeah it's been a rough few years
Our best month is usually February and then nothing happens and it's practically spring lol I hate that
Desperation. The last 2 years have been atrocious. We haven't tracked a legit significant winterstorm from range in 2 years! People are so used to seeing a ridge over the SE and trough over the west that the absence of the SER tricks some into thinking it's a great pattern. It's not if you want snow!

Yeah I know my complaining is nothing compared to others with multiple snowless years but the last time I saw 3+ inches to cover the grass was January 2018. Nearly 3 years ago.
AND that’s including one winter here in the mountains at 2k elevation in a decent NW flow area too.
pretty crazy. Last winter was one of the mildest winters in the old timers memories around here.
