Patterns just don’t do what they used to do, I thought -NAOs produced snow for NC
Back in the 80s, yes. In the 2020s, it doesn’t matter what any of the indices say, we don’t get precipitation with temperatures below freezing. Best we can do is slop.

Weather is more exciting in the Plains/Midwest compared to the SE.

You're right. Tornadoes, severe wx, snow, blizzards, massive arctic outbreaks, Ice...the only thing they don't get is hurricanes. What a shame though that nearly everything non-weather related is so boring.

A lot of the midwest is painfully boring, although there are some exciting places like Chicago. But sadly a lot of the towns are dying off. It's weird going to some of these small midwest towns and seeing it almost like a ghost town. It can be very depressing. Also the roads in much of the midwest are in horrible shape, tons of pot holes.

Well we will experience rain in every possible way next 7-8 days. Cool, cooler, warm, warmer, thunder, lightning, heavy, steady, drizzle, annoying

we win!

Lots of rain, and rain makes corn, corn makes whiskey, whiskey makes my baby a little frisky........

I'm offering up a Bama Natty next football season in exchange for at least a 2 inch snow before March 15. You hear that weather gods? I mean, Bama has plenty and we can skip a year. :p

Man was I born in the wrong state. I’d be lying if I said I never got depressed from missing out on winter weather. It’s always captivated me and I’ll always love it. Here’s some Photos of my trip to Wytheville, VA last weekend. There were many more better quality ones, but the file size made them too large to upload.E1D21382-B9A7-4539-AD64-362E9657C443.jpeg0D990B09-C2E1-421C-9109-A2FF404B579E.jpeg1DE789A6-C699-4A2B-B55B-BF2C053B953B.jpeg5FC1E196-491C-4B96-A94A-25021E204960.jpeg49ACD035-C32F-4E35-AB94-C50A5CB685BF.jpeg

There's nothing prettier than seeing snow in the mountains. Snow here in Indiana just doesnt have the same beauty that mountain snow does.

Alright so a deep summary on what we want if we want a winter storm next week across CAD areas
First off, you initially want to start out with a TPV more East like what the euro has slowly been doing the last 4 runs, next up, the pacific wave that enters, you want that to be more separate from the TPV near MN because if there close, there’s a tug effect which leaves behind energy over the GLs (Vort tail) and ruins the eastward propagation of our CAD high (want that pacific wave to dig out west more) next up another thing that helps is a earlier phase with that secondary TPV coming out of Canada towards the NE, initially would help to have a more consolidated TPV (like the UKMET) but the earlier these things phase, the better. Honestly the hump I see right now is that left over vorticity tail that’s trying to hang back over the lakes on models because the pacific wave doesn’t dig enough and just moves more west to East initially View attachment 73660
