Dude is not gonna give up ...

Sounds like fun! Maybe I'll lose the blueberry bushes again like a couple years ago!

(Reality: I know that won't happen, things did "threaten" to bloom but we've been cold enough it hasn't happened)

Funny how we have gone snowless in heart of winter that was supposed to be the most epic winter ever. Low solar, weak Nina, record mSSW and we warmth and rain.

Doesn't really make much sense to compare the Tuesday system with last month's storm considering this is an Alberta Clipper....Their origins/setup is apples and oranges. I'm not even gonna touch on the ground temps debate because it's very played out at this point. Just like the saying says about no two snowflakes are alike, no two storms are alike. Even if you compare two clippers, two Miller As, two overrunning events, etc.

Can't compare this system with that one. For one, the sun angle was lower in early December. Also, I'm not sure I remember it coming during the middle of the day ? I could be wrong about that. And also I think the rates of snow were very high and of course when rates are high ground temps don't matter as much. Correct me if i'm wrong, but I believe this is a light snow event ?
Your wrong and it was also in the middle of the day. Started at 12 in ATL

Ok. I stand corrected. But the temps definitely helped with that system. I think the warmest temps were during the event was 27 and then it fell from there. With this system next week, temps will be much warmer when the precip starts.

Are you talking about December 2017? It never got below 33 here during the time most of that snow fell.

Damn, sleep in and wake up to not getting frontal snow!? What a nightmare! :(has

What did I even wake up for? There’s a nerd fight in the main forum, winters cancelled through the 15th, RAH not getting a foot from the coastal!? JB still flapping his stupid gums about a cold March! Poop, poop, poop, poopity poopity poopity, lets go chasing boys!

Am I missing something here ? People in parts of NC are thinking a snowstorm may be possible the next couple days ? I'm looking at the forecast and it shows highs in the 50s across all of the eastern half of NC through Monday.

Aren't we all nerds on a forum about weather of all things?

Crack open a book. Dynamic cooling is a real thing. Just need heavier precipitation to come inland.

I hate to say it, but I think (with the exception of Raleigh's early Christmas gift) this winter is not going to work out. It's just not our year

So if dynamic cooling occurred could it still fall as rain ? Or would it most likely be snow ?

Sure. It's not 100% that dynamic cooling will cool it down enough in some areas, even with heavy precipitation to turn to snow.

It became obvious that we were punting at least a week after early February, if the pacific jet really wakes up, all of us are dropkicking until next winter after then outside of TN/parts of NC/maybe the western SE.

It's looking really bad. I hate "back loaded" winters. When I hear meteorologists predict them, I translate it to mean no snow for anyone south of TN/NC. In my experience Atlanta never does well with delayed cold. We need it early (DEC/JAN) and we need magnitude. We got neither this year. I grade this winter an F.
