Misc 2019 Banter & Friendly Conservation

It's statistics. NC received record snow in December. Anymore is statistically, very unlikely. In order for the rest of us to get snow they have to get more. Therefore, it is statistically very unlikely for anyone else to get snow. Done. Let's punt to December. Can't wait for June 22 so that the days start getting shorter.

Still waiting on that answer.

Our current low position diving way down into the gulf is different but who knows. The clipper showing up is the biggest difference. Basically replace the cold 1039 high on the map below with a healthy L.

Uhh, I guess you don't remember 10/11 then. Raleigh got crushed by the Christmas snowstorm by what I've seen on here and we still got another winter storm, it just missed Raleigh snow wise. It's very POSSIBLE for that type of scenario.

So yeah this was a glitch on the D7 GEFS but this had to be what models would've looked like during the ice age....

Agreed. I said this the day of the storm that winter was done. How many years have an 8 inch storm at rdu then a second of 4+? Hell even 2+? Numbers much like the ball dont lie

Yeah I felt the same, but thought if any year could do it considering the forecasts, this could be it. But this year has just continued on with the same synoptics of the past several years IMO. Nothing's different so far in reality. You may be able to argue it's worse, with less -EPO/+PNA.

No, I don't remember. That was 8 years ago.

Well I'll be honest, I didn't know about that detail but if you were reading, the Raleigh folks here at some point during the winter months were talking about how they got crushed with the day after Christmas snowstorm and got screwed with the January 2011 winter storm. They thought they'd get a big snow with that one too but were screwed over by the dry slot and had mostly freezing rain.

So there. There is your example of a winter where we had a snowstorm that crushed Raleigh and while that did affect other areas, we got a winter storm anyway afterward. Winter storms in the southeast do NOT have to automatically give Raleigh a big snow too.

So 1 year ever. Great odds

We have had multiple winters with 3”+ events but yeah, I can’t recall a winter that has 2 6”+ events. Agree, we are hoping for scraps.

Ok, I have been on here since the start and way back to talkweather. I never post, just read and try to learn a little a long the way. Brick is right, you guys used to be a fun group of people (way better than American) but now it’s all seriousness and everyone is rude as He$$! I constantly see posts telling guests to sign up and join the conversation but then when they do, they get told to sit back and learn, or posts constantly being moved/deleted. I get that some need to be moved but it really does seem like some are singled out.
Just my honest opinion.

I used to feel the same way, and still do sometimes. But eventually, I just sorta got over it I guess cause at the end of the day, we can't really control the way someone acts over the screen. This is a awesome place to learn and to get up to date information but some of the people on here can take advantage at times and sorta single out the ones that don't know as much. But at the same time, I can see how it can get extremely annoying repeating the same thing and the same person asking the same question a million times. I think we should all remember where we came from and that at one point, we were all new at this.
