Misc 2019 Banter & Friendly Conservation

This isn't what that kind of Nino was though. It's barely one, a typical one usually would lead to the MJO not being as much of a factor. Although that one was strong and not very good outside the mid south.
Yes we may got nothing but I’ve learned never give up before March 15th. Even in the warmest winters it just takes one storm and cold front to collide. I’ll be honest in that I’m starting to get worried, especially if next week doesn’t bring the goods. This is the time of year I always start getting worried though if we haven’t had a good size snow storm yet. But we haven’t had a decent snow in February for 2 years now so I’m going to put my faith in the law of averages and say we won’t go a third. This only applies up here as I’m more familiar with my area and we’ve had plenty of February snows up here over the years. I guess that’s the beauty of weather as no one truly knows what will happen between now and mid March.

For all of y'all who insist that winter is over, that there'll be no snow in your back yard ever again, that the world ends February 4th, and there's nothing worth living for any further, here's a poster for your wall ... frame it ...

According to this map the world ends on the 3rd? Strange. My calculations were off by a day

I'm wondering if we will have problems on the roads in the Midlands of SC on Wednesday morning with temps forecast to 23 after the PM rain that is in the forecast. Maybe it will dry up before it freezes?

It's a tale as old as time itself. Some people get off on positivity, while others get off on pissing in someone's cereal. Most of us lie somewhere in the middle. The bottom line is making definitive weather statements in either direction based on model guidance can be a fools errand.

One thing I will say is our South Carolina friends have an edge to them and I dig that. If we ever got into a battle with the Mid-Atlantic I would send in the Palmetto Pulverizers in the first wave.

As I know its not good to be in the bullseye this far out, but I am literal under the bullseye in east central Bama. Too bad it will be different next run...

I'd still take a weak-moderate Nino, it's just this one is so weak it might as well not be one. I'm sure we'll find a way to end up with a strong one next year, which I would not be fine with.
Actually I think it could be great. Wasn't 2010 a strong El Nino?

This may be of one of the most uneventful winters here in most of South Carolina and Eastern Georgia. No possible Snow events to track within the 3-4 day period,no other type of winter weather events,no major cold shots and we haven't even get sustained cold so far. Hopefully mid or late February there will be a winter storm to track, but who knows. I wish we had winters similar to the late 1970s and early 1980s.

It’s been painful how long it’s been in Central SC. It’s like Mother Nature is pissed off with the Midlands for some reason.

so weird how l-85 cuts off everything, over these past years my area receives the most snow/sits in a good spot then friends at Charlotte end up with mixing issues most of the time

Guys, it's coming. Be patient, the long awaited pattern will arrive in March. It's a process! Trust the process (John Calipari)

Yeah plus they have to deal with atrociously hot and humid weather for months. I would rather live in Phoenix than live on that hell hole known as Columbia.
Had a cousin who moved out to Phoenix from March to December, and he agrees, there is no place hotter when it comes to high temps mixed with high humidity than Columbia.
