Some posts are not even remotely close to making any meteorological sense.

Looking for opinions -

At what point do we challenge their statements ? I mean we have all kinds of new people on the board that might read some of these posts and believe them

I think they all need to be addressed respectfully otherwise the board can quickly get a reputation for being a source of "fake news". And reputations are not easily changed, I would know!

I am in Tulsa and it may not hit 40 tomorrow. Meanwhile in Raleigh it may hit 70 tomorrow ! Those darn mountains just wont let the cold air past them sometimes. Seems like its so much easier to get cold air in OK than areas further east like TN and NC !

Yep, then either they can get mad and leave or suffer through the growing pains we have all had and still have. As long as you are respectful and use tact, others can judge if the person in question throws a hissy fit.

This was my main concern. We don’t want to kill someone’s passion but at the same time we want to be a source of quality information. Yeah during down time we give a lot of leeway but when we have threats we want good sound information .

Now I’m all for challenging someone’s opinion with information that can back it up . I’m not saying different opinions are bad . I just feel like some post lately make zero sense and if challenged could no way be validated. It’s a fine line cause we for sure don’t want to make anyone feel attacked or embarrassed

I know some of the types of posts you're referring to. I've actually started to respond a couple of times recently and thought better of it. It's hard not to come off as condescending or a know-it-all, and with my reputation, anytime I start correcting someone I'm automatically throwing my degrees in their face so I try not to do much of that unless it's directed squarely at something I've said because of that.

Spring necessarily follows winter. So the short answer is "no" {since winter hasn't happened}; the real answer is ... a fall hangover that needs at a minimum a strong kick in the butt ...

Hopefully we finally chase down the other "bigfoot" in the -NAO later on this January and the STJ doesn't turn off when we do so myself, the guys in central SC (even upstate?), and the south central GA guys can get in on a good snow.
 
I try my best to explain things. If you have any better explanations to add to what any members post (or I) feel free to quote and add to it. It makes the converstion(s) go further into greater possibilities of what the outcome(s) could be with scenarios. Also, if you see something that someone isn't explaining well, or something that is wrong, help them out. But, don't like "take over" them of what they're saying.
