I think it comes down to expectations. People expect it to snow every year. Honestly social media has fed that more than anything. I like to see everyone’s opinions as it makes this board better but damn there are some interesting posts. Lol
It helps lock in the warm air.I heard the NAO wasn't important

I think we forget how low the avg snow fall totals are some of our areas. ATL avg is a little over 1in. So I couldn’t complain so much.

KATL averages 2.9", which I guess is just over an inch from someone from the north, but significantly more than 0" in the south. The northern burbs would probably average 4-5" if records were kept.
Yea I was guessing, 2.9 is actually higher then I would think.

Why does our driver have to change every year?? It seems whichever one means less snow for the SE it takes over as the driver..... LolIt kind of is just wait and see once the MJO reaches 7. On the large scale, I think that is definitely driving the pattern and as Webb and others have pointed out, the models are struggling mightily with that (the MJO) , so if they can't accurately model the driver of the pattern, they ain't going to handle the pattern progression correctly.
Think of all the kids in the south that are in their impressionable years. There’s nothing like waking up with snow on the ground. My interest and fascination with weather comes from those fond memories from my younger years. Warm snowless winter is not an optionI just think that overall, cold and snow does more harm than good. If a mild winter means less people dying from slippery roads or freezing to death or shoveling snow, then i am all for it. I am not saying that snow and cold cant be fun, because it can. I am just trying to offer some perspective.

I doubt the northern Atl suburbs average 4-5". I dont think even Chattanooga averages more than 5" and i think Nashville only averages around 6".KATL averages 2.9", which I guess is just over an inch from someone from the north, but significantly more than 0" in the south.
