Can't argue with this.... who knows maybe nobody else wanted the job. Like I said I may be wrong, I hope I am but I don't see him doing now what he did when he was here the first time.

I don't think its a terrible hire but it seems desperate. I do think Mack will get UNC back to 6-6 7-5 type seasons and may save the program from really going into the tank. 5 years from now if the program has a positive trajectory would be shocked to see him step aside for a young guy. I was really worried that UNC would get a home run hire though

Now I don't totally disagree like I said I may be wrong but worrying about Carolina getting a home run hire in football is like worrying about the blizzard of the century shutting down Christmas around here

UNC football is an unmitigated disaster, with no prospects of anything resembling success in the immediate future. The Mack Brown hire is probably going to work out well for them, if you have some patience and some dominoes fall in the right way. He's a known quantity with a proven track record. Is he going to come out and light the world on fire? No, probably not. But he knows how to put the building blocks in place for a program, and that's likely what they're counting on. If you're a Carolina fan, hopefully, he can come in with his experience and his contacts and recruit decently, hire a competent staff, rebuild a few recruiting pipelines, and bring some modicum of success back to the product on the field. This will enable him to hand the reins over to a more realistic longer-term coach in the next few years. That's the plan. And it seems pretty sound, though it will require some patience.
 
Love my November frost, feels like what a November should feel like. I have nothing to ----- about with this pattern.

I swear the CFS has a southeast Christmas snowstorm every year at some point. Someone should keep a record of this!
