Misc 2018 Banter & Venting Thread

This place is toxic today. I can't stand the constant lamenting when every model run is not showing bone chilling cold and historic blizzards for someone's backyard. Unrealistic expectations and senseless posts frustrate me. Especially when they are not put in the correct banter-venting thread...

However, I'll be back tomorrow morning to see how much gloom and doom y'all can get out of the overnight runs!
Me thinks I came back about three weeks too soon.

Lol this is just like people calling Atlantic hurricane season over when we haven't had a hurricane yet in early June. The climatological peak for snowfalls in the Southeastern US is not for another two months or so, and even some of the snowiest years don't have hardly anything until January. As much as I would love to see a nice snow before Christmas it just isn't climatologically likely here.

I would think we would be grateful to have winter-like weather right now, it was roughly 6 weeks ago where the weather was pure hell. It seemed like it was never going to cool down soon. Also some of us still apparently haven't learned that we can average out above normal temperatures from December to February and still have epic winter storms. I never understood the disconnect of this idea that if we aren't averaging below normal temperatures, we can't get wintry weather. It's been said before, but how many times have we witnessed a significant/major winter storm after unseasonably warm, sometimes record warmth temperatures? Too many for me to count on both hands. I don't know, maybe it's because I'm getting older (just turned 26 this past Saturday) and I'm getting more patient. As great as it is to watch and analyze over every little nook and cranny of model guidance that's available to us at the end of the day, that's exactly what it is, "GUIDANCE". Mother nature will do whatever the hell it wants to when it wants to whether we like it or not so as far as I'm concerned, "It is what it is". Lastly, if it bothers some of you this bad to see guaranteed snow every winter, you should seriously consider moving a state or two north. I know that's easier said than done, but it's just not realistic to expect guaranteed snowfall in the Southeast even under some of the most favorable pattern set ups. We all want that Superstorm '93, or that Carolina Crusher, or the Great Blizzard of 1899, but those are once in a lifetime storms for a reason. Even saying all of that, I still hold out for another Superstorm every winter because I was only 4 months old back then so of course I don't remember it so I don't think it should count as my once in a lifetime storm. lol:p:weenie:

Might not want to go far. We might be enforcing the BAN feature tonight. LOL:)

Don’t bring reasoning and common sense into the banter thread! Jk
Good post!

Atlanta Braves signed former AL MVP slugger Josh Donaldson to 1yr/$23 million. If he can avoid injuries like the past two seasons that is a big bat in the middle of the line up. Brian McCann also agreed to a 1yr/$2 million contract to return to Atlanta and platoon with Flowers behind the plate.

I think people were spoiled by last year though I didn't get jack here in Dallas lol. The odds of that storm repeating anytime soon are next to zero.

Also I feel like the hype for this winter has created unrealistic expectations to some people... we still live in a place where we're lucky its cold at all lol and its been plenty cold lately. I know we want more, I do too, but its only November

I haven't seen a December snow here yet and this will be my 5th winter, even in Bama December snows were rare

I think UNC football, just got a lot better!
I hope he can find a way, at his age, to connect with high school kids and can land the modern day dre blys and natrone means. I wonder if any hs players remember his onfield success or just know him as an espn football commentator. Either way, we have nowhere to go but up from our current state. As bad as the coastal division has been lately, i feel its up for grabs with unc with decent coaching and some decent recruits. Mack has done much more than that before.

LOL Mack Brown is like talking about snowstorms from the 80s. They were good then but they aren't relevant today. Unless he brings in some home run coordinators I have a hard time thinking he can connect with high school aged kids.
UNC just proved two points, they are at the bottom of the football barrel and they don't care about their football program. I may eat these words but this was a bonehead move imo..... bringing a guy out of retirement (5 yrs removed btw) is not how you move forward in today's college football landscape

As long as they put butts in seats
