Say what????? I think your misunderstanding the mjo. I think it is 7-10 days we start going into a more favorable mjo.
 
Im saying once we get into those phases we will rocket out of them like a bat out hell. .Im giving us 7-10 days in the favorable phases. Then we will go back to the crap phases again. It seems the MJO rotates slowwwwwwwwwwwwwwww through the warm phases then moves like lightning through our cold phases.

Yep, zero chance of spending two weeks in phase 8 ever.
 
well we will flip pattern first week of Feb no wait now its gonna be 3rd week of feb no ok we will definitely flip pattern in 2020 I can hear it now lol

Nonsense, it will flip the first day of March and give us two straight cold spring months and the flip back the first week of May to pump the SE ridge and start four straight months of 90's. Then in Sept, JB will post his winter map, analogs will fly and by Oct the whole cycle will begin again.

Like chickens on the truck, we will once again line up to have our heads chopped off again by reality.

Even if we don’t get cold until February we still have a chance to get 2-3 storms and make this a good winter. Don’t get up hope yet.

It’s just crazy how almost every meteorologist was predicting a cold snowy winter. Only for this to happen how wrong can they be?

Haha I will give it until Feb before I do. I don’t like what I’m seeing but I know weather can change fast. It will be hard to believe 90% of the forecast for this winter was wrong. I have 2 little girls so patience is something I have developed of the years.

So, will winter eventually come, or will this end up being the winter that wasn't (except for the Carolinas)?
 
I tend to get the sense that if this winter simply never shows up after all the hoop-la and hype (by even some of the more conservative mets at that) many around here might be on the verge of resigning from being interested in winter anymore.
 
Everyone is panicing yet I'm pretty sure most people have been predicting a backloaded winter since October. If we get to Jan 15 and there's no sign of improvement then maybe you can start to panic.

Joe Bastardi is always predicting cold and snow,even during winters where it's clearly going going to be warm.I don't understand why people take JB seriously.With that said tho,almost everyone(including me myself) was thinking that this winter was going to be cold and snowy.While I still believe the pattern can change towards a cold pattern after January 20th,I'm feeling less optimistic about the pattern changing towards our favor than I was over the last week or so.
 
I know that we are probably heading for our fourth consecutive winter AN, but at least we had some extremely cold periods last year (some of the coldest in any winter during this current decade) and that doesn't seem to be the case this year. The lowest that I've been at all meteorological winter is 28 and that doesn't look like that it will change any time soon.
 
Come on guys!!! Lets not forget Fab February. We have scored many times over the years on that month. It’s not even January and everyone is throwing in the books.
 
This time last year we were all about to be very, very cold, or already there! And it was supposed to be a sucky winter! Today I’m headed for mid 60s and barely a freezing low in the next 15 days!

Yeah same here. I'm sitting the football that is the first half of January at the edge of the cliff and calling Lucy to pull it as I fail to kick it and fall on my back at the bottom. I don't expect anything but rain on the 2nd and 3rd and it's too warm and unfavorable for the next week or so after. The EPS shows a horrible pattern and the MJO will be a good week or two from a favorable point and that's likely our only window we will have. If it makes it. :rolleyes: End rant.
