You probably can’t go wrong with Blowing Rock, or really anywhere with high elevation. This whole thing is very confusing for someone trying to figure out where to chase to.

You'll be fine it's been 60 up here for the last few days. This will be a heavy wet snow. The roads will be a little slushy but that's about it.Heading to Boone this weekend, wondering if I will be able to make it out SundayI'm fine if the answer is no!
Thanks Snowman, taking the big truck up with 4L and muds, so not worried unless it gets icy. East (Actually west) bound and down, 10-10 on the side. You'll be fine it's been 60 up here for the last few days. This will be a heavy wet snow. The roads will be a little slushy but that's about it.
That's a big 10-4 stay safe buddy and enjoy. Thanks Snowman, taking the big truck up with 4L and muds, so not worried unless it gets icy. East (Actually west) bound and down, 10-10 on the side.
Eastern NC has thrown in the towel. Upstate and western NC still very much alive.Wait a dang minute. Have we already threw in the towel of anything outside of the mountains? What about my nam’ing this morning.
I’m supposed to leave Sunday to depending on the weather. I’ll be in Boone. Maybe I can meets some posters up there.Heading to Boone this weekend, wondering if I will be able to make it out SundayI'm fine if the answer is no!
So is the surface low at hr 66ULL is about 50 miles further SE.
Exactly. The key will be to get it to go bonkers when it begins the pivot to the NE.![]()
Not only is the ULL better but the lower heights over the NE and SE Canada is even better. Problem is we got to be careful because if the S/W is too weak, then you can't get the dynamic cooling.
Do you have the sleet map? I'm curious if it's showing much.12z Euro Kuchera map

I'm trusting the NAM with the sub 900mb thermal profiles for now. fingers crossed.Euro 850 low track was nice for NGA, Upstate, WNC but there were massive temp issues below 875. With the heavier rates a lot of people will be able to cool from the top down
50 miles as the crow flies. Have to be careful though to make sure the shift doesn't come from a lot of weakening which will zap the dynamic cooling. How much of a shift South and East is needed to get more of the foothills and western piedmont involved? 50-75 miles?
If I were in your shoes the only thing that would really concern me about the NAM is that it's artificially collapsing the cold from the top down by being over amplified and too heavy with precip. That may not be the case but keep it in mindI'm trusting the NAM with the sub 900mb thermal profiles for now. fingers crossed.
