Couple inches in Pickens SC snow trying hold on strong but mixes with sleet at times

Seeing sleet, snow, and the sun at the same time right now. It's genuinely surreal. Pretty cool.

All short term models show a crippling ice storm for Northeast GA and the upstate of SC...
Guess I should check them out - haven’t been looking at them since the storm hit. Went over to frz rain imby a little while ago. Some more precip to move through looking at the radar but i assumed it didn’t seem to be enough for a big icing event

NWS GSP just cut totals. :( I think the combo of limited precip and likely sleet is just not going to be great for the CLT area. We'll see but NWS cut hurts.

We can all see it unfortunately. Just hoping to avoid ice and possible power outages. I don't see how we even get an inch with the radar and the look it is giving now. Congrats to those who hit the jackpot!

CAE expressed frustrations with the models for this event.

It should be noted that guidance has done extremely poorly with this
event across the board. This initial batch of precipitation was very
poorly modeled, and even hi-res guidance has a poor handle on
current temperatures. With widespread precipitation, cloud cover,
and little surface advection, we are expecting many areas along and
north of I20 to potentially stay below freezing throughout the
night. Ultimately, please avoid travel if at all possible. Roads
will likely be slick especially as the sun sets this evening.
Remember that bridges and overpasses see snow/sleet/freezing rain
accumulation quicker than other roadways. If you`re in the northern
Midlands, charge you phone just in case isolated power outages do
occur overnight tonight. Winter Storm Warning & Winter Weather
Advisory along the I20 corridor runs through 4a, with the warning in
the northern Midlands and CSRA running through 7a due to higher
confidence in temps remaining below freezing through the event.

GRAF run from earlier today that showed precip really battling dry air looks to have been onto something. It was showing widespread precip not getting to the Charlotte metro before 5:30-6.
