Wintry 1/9-12 Winter Potential Great Dane or Yorkie

Looks like some big rates moving in from the west. Still holding strong with snow. Haven’t mixed at all yet. If we can keep this going we should be able to rack up some accumulation
I'm about halfway through that band and I honestly can't tell any difference so far. About what we've been getting all day. So far the radar looked way more impressive than what has been falling.

Edit : actually i think its all sleet

the Piedmont and CLT crew better hope the warm nose isn’t stout. With in between rates and temps in the upper 20’s ZR can accrete quickly
Looking at soundings, I still think what models are depicting as ZR in CLT metro is sleet. Very thin warm nose and 925mb safely below freezing

37.4 was all we could muster today just west of PGV, now down to 36.0/17.2 and slowly dropping. Forecasted high from MHX was 40, so not a complete bust but still a couple degrees. I will say the HRRR was 6 degrees too warm at a 4 hour lead, so take that for what’s it worth. It had me at 42 as of 3pm on the 16z run.

Whatcha got dbz for us in Charlotte, so far I feel like Capn Dan.

HRRR and RAP are dropping an additional 0.5" of liquid here. We've shown no signs of mixing. Ripping fatties at the moment. returns look healthy in the western upstate and Georgia. Hopefully we can rack up here.
You're in a great spot for the storm for sure. Good chance you hang on to snow for the whole thing.

Other short range models especially the 3k Nam showing some flurries around my area tail end of this. That’s a win for me.

Best rates of the day here, it's sleet, but it's really starting to add up. Roads are fully white now. Got 1.5 inches of snow and now a solid 1/2 inch of sleet on top of that. Haven't seen any signs of freezing rain mix in, and I think i'll make another run at snow here in a little while.

This is horrific. Snow has become very light here.

All the models had shown this storm just dying in the Carolinas, and it seems it's more or less playing out like that (even though it ticked up at the end). Hoping to just get under some heavy banding.

Flurries have tapered off here.

Having said that, I think we will eventually mix but if that band can produce, Charlotte might be able to get a quick inch or two before IP/ZR take over.

Yeah I'm in a good spot where it seems the column is holding out but we are getting some rates as well. Again the radar coming out of Georgia especially looks healthy
looking really good as I am right above you around the state line, if we can hold out those returns look to rock. Appreciate all you do on here.
