Sure let’s just go with this.
There is also a thick layer of ice on the Tempest weather system. The ice accrual you saw earlier is absorbing latent heat as it melts away, keeping your temp at freezing a bit longer
Probably sleet and rainSnowing and sleeting again in Midtown ATL.
Not yet. Wait until after dark in NC and SC. That map will a lot like it did on Sept. 27, just in a different and bigger area. The stuff back in GA and AL will fall here as freezing rain.Atleast from what I can tell this doesn’t look to be a widespread power outage storm
im still sitting at 30 degrees and icing upWe are stuck at 29. Might hit 30 later. If it decides it wants to ZR later if might be lights out
No way that's happeningThe upstate is finally gonna get heavy consistent rates here in a few hours... the problem is we probably stay sleet at that point, but it's not a given, could go back to snow. I wouldn't give up hope yet.
Rates have dropped off here but i'm still lighting snowing after a brief period of mixing with sleet.
That will be ice. It'll be lights out for most of us.No way that's happening
It is amazing how much more snow ATL got, not rubbing it in,,, just bizarre modeling.Light Freezing Rain in Jasper. Temp at 30. Hoping lights stay on! Had enough snow to cover roads and grass, but less than an inch. That part is disappointing. Still pretty to see and it has been a long time coming. Maybe we will switch back later … I can always hope!
It is great to see so much of the board scoring and in many places over performing expectations!
We're getting the same here. Everything is glazing over rapidly and I'm seeing some weight on trees/leaves now. Not much, but it's a noticeable difference.Light Freezing Rain in Jasper. Temp at 30. There is definitely some kind of god forsaken dryslot in this area that has nothing to do with the radar site. I mean here’s 10 miles north of Salisbury.Lmao it’s not even sleeting anymore here, dry as a bone
My location has been rain and drizzle, elevated surfaces are melting as well. Driveways and sidewalks are clearing up. Not cold enough I believe for ice to form. I have fluctuated between 30 and 32 the past two hours with only melting as a result. Once the sun gets lower in the sky and heavier precip comes in things might change, as of now, no ice accrual.Ice accrual update? Seems to be doing a decent amount of freezing rain but little accrual currently…does that change as we go into the late afternoon evening-will we start to see issues, or will we remain at status quo? Interested in current thoughts…?
Not gonna happen... anything that's not snow will be sleet in these's area... 825mb to the surface is way too cold and the warm nose is way too thin for freezing rain. (imo)All short term models show a crippling ice storm for Northeast GA and the upstate of SC...
Same here...heavy rates about to show up at the wrong time I'm afraid. Maybe notThe upstate is finally gonna get heavy consistent rates here in a few hours... the problem is we probably stay sleet at that point, but it's not a given, could go back to snow. I wouldn't give up hope yet.
