First flakes here. Let’s see where it goes.
This ain’t it if you’re wanting good accums. But if you are satisfied with watching it fall heavy at times you’ll leave here with a WIt’s possible but we need to hurry and get some rates otherwise we are ------. Hoping these increasing returns west of CLT start putting in some work. We are on limited time View attachment 162497
It's definitely rate driven, good luck brother.Just started here very light sleet with a little bit of dandruff
Ain’t lookin good down here. You guys may be better off.Christ on a cracker with the bust calls every ------- storm before it even unfolds
That was one of your old rules I always appreciated. Don’t call bust before it even startsChrist on a cracker with the bust calls every ------- storm before it even unfolds
Same here. I’m hoping those heavy returns to the west and southwest can crash the columnJust started here very light sleet with a little bit of dandruff
Thanks for explaining that reason for sleet at onset. It also appears to my untrained eye that we may get way less precip according to radar returns south and west from the Charlotte area? Is this correct?Looks like the sleet monster has already shown up on Charlotte’s doorstep. Having this initial band show up during the middle of the afternoon cuts out the few extra degrees of boundary layer cooling you desperately need in a storm like this
Why is my temp stubborn to move up? Sitting at 32 with a wetbulb of 31.1 with rain on the way. Already have ice in the trees.
Yeah but I wouldn’t fully rule out that cursed thing lolYou may already know this, but others may not, but this is completely normal and happens in all of these events. The radar beam is increasing with height as it goes away from the radar, so it looks like it is snowing all around it but in reality the column is slowly moistening with height. That's why the ring will slowly close in as the column moistens downward with time.
This is why when you look at higher tilts, the ring of radar returns is closing in.
