Wintry 1/9-12 Winter Potential Great Dane or Yorkie

I hate to say it but it’s looking like the nam had it right here. A few more hours of mixed precipitation before it changes over to all rain. Little to no accumulation of sleet or snow. Currently mixed precip falling outside.

Edit: guess my pessimism got the best of me. Currently snowing and the ground is white. 4:28 AM. How long will it last? Hopefully all morning!

Yep. Switching over to cold rain here. 33.3F. I do think we’ll get a solid snow in the next 10 or 20 years. It used to be an every other year type of thing and now it’s more like a few times a lifetime. Anyway, cheers and I hope u all enjoy your winter wonderland!

I just looked at a radar and it showed a hail indicator and a few storms in north Alabama. So I have a question I've never seen before but can you have hail in the middle of a snowstorm?

Couple of flurries flying on the berry college eagle cam in Rome, GA

A lot of mixing problems here. I think it’s about to change back over to all sleet

Ripping in NW AL at the moment....everything covered.

Column really starting to saturate in NE AL (Etowah County). We started as sleet for about 15 minutes and now to all snow. Flakes growing in size and in number. Maybe we can salvage something after all!!
Gadsden? Nice! I am away from home was wondering how home was faring.

Current column situation...

700mb: Great saturation and 0c just south of I-20

850mb: below I-20 and you can tell the WAA is struggling the way the contours are stacking on each other to the south

925mb: Cooling off nicely under the precip

Surface: I-20 north hovering around the 33 degree mark.....a lot of 32 and below reports out north of 20
