Wintry 1/9-12 Winter Potential Great Dane or Yorkie

Nice sleet rain mix here in Walker county. Rates might overcome the above freezing ground temp to get a light accumulation.

925mb warmth is going to be the dagger unless we can crash through dynamic and evap cooling. 700mb looks great, 850mb is right there.....going to be close for even sleet accumulation

At this point I hope the Low bombs out and we get a little wrap around light snow. I think that’s our only shot here.

Watching Brett Adair coming through Northern MS and there isn't a thing falling from the sky....going to be a major bust out there if things don't pick up soon.

Will you admit the NAM might have been on to something or am I still just a troll?

Maybe once the low gets farther to my east it will strengthen and pull down some colder air

losing this storm due to it being too warm after models predicted one of the coldest periods in years earlier is peak SE weather! Gotta love it :)

Snow or sleet?
Hard to tell but most highways the fast lane is completely white and you can see tracks in the slow lane. That's in the NW part not many cams in the NE rural sections.

Total bust from Tupelo, MS. Rain and very little sleet. We’ve got a few more hours but not much evidence of anything significant on its way.

I-55 and I-269 near Hernando is covered. Cams in the NE show white on the grass but the roads look good.

You got some heavier precipitation about to move in don't loose hope yet. I think you will change soon.

Nam continues its trend south with colder air looks a lot better so far for Upstate SC WNC. Hopefully we can hang on to snow longer with that front end thump before a change over for the I-85 crowd.

If the column would ever saturate over north AL, it would be game on. All layers are crashing, but it has to be from evap cooling, and I am afraid that once our column is primed, the best moisture will be gone and what little WAA there is will raise us back up....can't win here in AL.

See what you mean but really this seems to be going bout like they forecast..so far

Somebody mentioned earlier that Verga won't be an issue over the Carolinas. However, it looks pretty dry tonight. Alabama is dealing with issues right now (southern and central regions) lies south of the red 0°C line, indicating that these areas are above freezing at the boundary layer and are unlikely to experience freezing precipitation. However, there is cold air aloft likely causing sleet monster. 1736497135757.png
