Wintry 1/9-12 Winter Potential Great Dane or Yorkie

I think even if GSP continues to go low on the snowfall amounts, the combination of snow/sleet/ZR and the cold ground temps should force them to pull the trigger on a Warning rather than an advisory

If it's thermals are right, I can definitely see this happening down this way in the form of especially sleet. Time will tell what time this front end comes in and the temperature it gets down to tonight. Tonight's temperatures are going to be dependent on how fast cloud cover tries to move in before morning. Early clouds = warmer.

Edit: The RGEM has 19 or so and single digit dews here.

The past 8 RAP runs at 9z Friday what you can see is on 1/8 9z run favorable run and then you see it retrograde to poor runs over next several cycles and then it starts coming back toward 1/8 9z solution some what... The same time other meso models started acting wonky all together and unlike the NAM RAP and HRRR are adjusting
 
Yall ain’t gonna like this.. but from what I’ve seen in this thread.. the counties bordering FFC’s watch need to have a winter wx advisory.. that is at least very plausible at this point.. them dragging feet is causing angry parents.. why?? I’m in education. Retired, but subbing.. our system (Troup) made an announcement that they would make an announced decision at 130 today.. doesn’t have an effect on me….!but these parents fuss if school is closed, fuss if it’s not closed, fussed they told them too late notice.. etc.. so why is FFC clearly dragging their feet?? If a WWA was issued, schools wouldn’t have to meet with Local emergency management at 1230 to make their own decision..

To your point Charlotte Mecklenburg just closed schools tomorrow. Way ahead of it.

Well, FFC is the honey badger of weather offices. They march to their own beat and that's that. I have seen snow get to the doorstep of Georgia and they only then would pull the trigger. Before I get eviscerated for this, there is a clear history of this. All of the multiple snow jams, etc.....
 
Yes.. we did those before.. this has been fairly clear enough that ice, sleet, and difficult travel will happen here in the morning at the very least.. why folks drag feet is beyond me! I get it.. FFC wants accuracy.. but I’d make that call!! It’s been modeled very well recently..

Paulding County GA schools are cancelled tomorrow. What we know so far is that NAM botched Texas pretty bad 24 hours out and it's been the more head strong version over past 2 days of limiting stuff in south. Several Meso/Global models are actually now breaking together toward the long standing Euro AI solution to be honest which is a pretty big event and yes I am sure they are seeing the stuff in Dallas and realizing it's definitely overachieving and just the past several hours of model runs and think we will see some verbiage adjustments away from NAM soon

I’m not really sure why FFC is waiting so much longer than BMX in issuing warnings and advisories. We’re only like 18 hours away from it starting so there should already be warnings and advisories in place.
