Wintry More SE Snow ? (1/16-1/18)

Just looked at the HRRR and it gives me light snow for several hours while we are below 32 degrees here north of Atlanta. If that comes close to verifying, travel is going to be a mess.

My Brother and his family live in Wilson NC. look like they will have a good pop of snow.

I've never seen actual snowflakes in real life like the ones you would see in cartoons until today. I guess because our snows are typically wet snows and not dry and powdery like these. Love it!

Watch the returns south of BHM as the other snow bands pull in. That area on to the NE may be where the band sets up later.

These will go up by tomorrow morning

NAM goes BOOM over the upstate. Maybe looking at a pretty good event #OpenTheFireHose

If the hrrr is right it easily could east of 59

I guess it's possible, but 1 or 2 bands aren't going to cut it. Models showed a solid band of moderate snow for a few hours. Thats what will be needed to even verify the 1" forecast. Impatiently waiting...

Just never built back up here in Madison, doubt we got more than 0.25 to 0.5 inches. At least it was something though, haven't cashed in on anything else this season

I'm at 52/26! :(
Not the best afternoon to be waiting on snow!

Funny that their base case is 4" with only a 10% chance of their worst case scenario of 5" coming to pass.
Agreed. I would think you could add 2" to the worse case map. The other ones are ok. Did you notice further down that Raleigh has a 90% of seeing more than 2"? No mixing either! It's been a long time!

Believe finally beginning to pivot aloft... if you look at radar intensity is picking up where precip had died off...esp back over in East Mississippi... Great trends

Yep. With the HRRR, RAP, both 12km and 3km NAM increasing snow it definitely looks good. Someone gets 3-4" in this area.

Glad it held off honestly would have p-type issues for a little bit I think... Now late afternoon temp down to 38 after high of 44... Plus always seems to be better rates with snow at night

Verbatim I think that could be higher. The kuchera ratios are slightly off showing 8:1 for Wake which will most likely be 10:1 and then 15:1
Agreed.. I could easily see someone jackpotting with 8" if that verifies

If the band lags to much then it's going to hurt us in the CAE area. Cause I doubt it's going to lag when it gets on top of us. We don't need this thing coming in the afternoon...

It's now overcast with some mid level clouds, according to a weather underground station near me it's about 50 degrees with dew points in the mid-20s

Seems to be coming between 7AM - 1PM.
