For the Dry Slot Club: We want the east precip band to win out over the west side. Which it looks like it is:
Gotta be one of the better Jeb Walks I've ever done, starting in the daylight and walking out into the night, along with a stop at McDonalds for a milkshake and apple pie! I'd estimate we have somewhere in the 2.5-3.5" range, but that's just eyeballing it. Haven't measured it yet. I am going to have to check and see it looks going into tonight. Snow is pretty light at the moment, but it would be great to push into the 4-6" range and make this feel like a legit storm. Would love to make 6", but that may be too much to ask? As it is, we have topped most grass blades, although some people keep their grass really high in the winter, and those are still standing tall above the snow.

Anyone wanna take a stab at what rates are in this band?
I'm intrigued with the short range modeling and radar indications for what we're seeing in Horry and Brunswick/New Hanover counties. It looks like the fetch isn't moving much off due north.
I'm torn because I'm not sure the east precip band will get this far west, and I am getting hit by the west band as it is. But I'm sure the east band has more potential for higher totals for us. What a close-run storm, getting fringed one way or the other.

still snowing at a pretty good clip, accumulating extremely efficiently now that the sun is down too. Might get another 1/2" to and inch before all said and done if this keeps up
Also noted on the radar that all the snow bands are moving north to northwest, which means this baby still has to pivot and then move over us west to east with the deformation band. This storm may yet have have some surprises!

Checked atls Radar and it looks like athens will get it too. It definitely will accumulate some..just hard to tell how much
Trained Spotter report of 8" in Winterville with mega-band inbound.
Seems like a lot of these bands are moving up SSE to NNW right now in the Triangle area. Worried those of us in the NW Triangle may be about to fall into that precip hole, but those darker returns directly to our south look super juicy, so I'm hoping the orientation changes a bit so they move into here as that looks like that could add up quickly.
We're adding up quickly down here in Horry county. Very moist band coming onshore for awhile now. Surface temp 21.

Still coming down steadily. Wind has really picked up too. Have to be pushing 10”, but I’m not going back out there.

Does the Morehead NWS office have some philosophical objection to issuing blizzard warnings? Haven’t all the criteria easily been met?

Just completed last pass of the evening. Pushing 10” here now, the south to north training that’s happening from west GSO to here is absurd. Crazy rates and I’m sure we’re not touching the rates down East right now. What. A. Storm.
For reference, the banks on the walk and the left half of my driveway (too lazy to clear the whole thing, just did a lane)? Over 18 inches on the walk, 2 feet for the driveway.

You're about 30 miles as the crow flies from me and it's crazy how different our OBS is, especially considering there were no P-type issues. Man, I wish I was at my parents' place in GSO for this one...

I know it’s crazy to think like this but I’m right there with you. I just can’t get excited for 1-3” or 2-4” events. Which is insane considering what we’ve been through since 2018 around here. I’ll always take the snow but if I’m at 3” and I’m seeing people around me at 8”, 9”, Hell 6” … it stinks lol. Terrible mindset, I know

This is the South, man; gotta dial down your expectations! 3" is a good storm around these parts! Don't get me wrong, 6" is my bar for a "serious" storm, but those are an every-few-winters kind of thing, usually.

Officially over 12.25” in Concord. At least at my house there is!! Yay!! Congratulations to enveryone as even if you didn’t get a lot of snow, I think we all got some!. Personally the most I’ve ever seen fall in NC my home state. It’s historical in that regard for sure!! Be safe out there and I’ll enjoy reading about and seeing pictures of your experience!! Thanks to all of you who are the smart ones and shared all your expertise about the storm. I’m sure novices like myself drive you a bit nutty sometimes.

I think that's the main issue. 3" is good, but when someone 30 miles away is in double digits it's hard to be as satisfied with that. That's the situation a lot of the Triangle is in now, LOL.

That slot today was evil. Think y’all are gonna get paid on the back end but I’ve been there before man.
I’ve blown 1 to 2 fresh inches with the leaf blower down to concrete 4 times today in about 7 hours. Never thought that would be a thing here (either snow type or rates). Super excited for my daughter, this will be the magic that hooks her like 96’ and 00’ hooked me.
