Ah ok. I just went out and checked again. I’ve got some sleet now.
I know I said this before, but my goodness, it is sleeting out here very hard. And my daughter's boyfriend, who lives in Mount Airy Said it was still snowing up there with sleet mixed in. 17.2/11

The dry layer is so shallow and we are already getting freezing drizzle. It won't be much longer until the heavier rates get going

Zero here for me now in Huntersville.
Just starting getting a light mist between Thomson & Warrenton, GA. Temps 38° Dew 25°. Not sure what to expect here. I was thinking around .3 but column seems to be moistening up now. Not sure if it’ll be mostly drizzle or if we get some heavier returns early tomorrow morning before it gets above freezing.

I will say the sleet does seem heavier than I expected at this juncture. Wasn’t really expecting anything yet.

Up to 30 degrees, wet bulb 29 and freezing rain still falling. Nuisance ice so far and pavement is fine. My deck is an ice rink though!

Yea I just took another look outside and thought I saw some ZR mixing in with the pingers already. No bueno.
Based on 8-9PM readings of GSP, AHN, GVL, Conyers, and Lawrenceville, the Icon and Euro on temps are doing very well (within ~1F). The UKMET is as expected several degrees too warm. But, the GFS is also too warm and by 3-5 in all but GVL, where it’s only 1 too warm. In addition, the GFS is a little too slow in starting the rain E and NE of ATL.

Sleet still coming down. Back porch is getting white. One of my thermometers is now reading 18.6 degrees.

I'm on the edge of the dry slot south of Raleigh and so far, no precipitation. Looking at radar, it might hold off for another hour or so before it sets in. I'm hoping the warm air rush coming from the coast will warm things before that squall line arrives tomorrow afternoon and dumps the motherlode of precipitation from this storm. I've been fortunate so far with no icing yet. The temperature is 23 degrees.
