Pattern January Joke

9/10x when Seattle roasts we win. That -NAO block is doing wonders right now. It’s slowing the progression and retrograding everything west. The Aleutian ridge stinks but you’re basically just getting massive ridging from the Aleutians all the way to west of the Mississippi now. The MJO sitting on the left side of the map in the COD and phase 8 also looks like it’s at least getting some positive forcing in the pacific and jet. I’ll be honest though, we really need to get one of these cutoffs in the southwest to push east or pump the sub tropical Jet. Otherwise it’ll be cold and dry. Which still beats a torch in winter. And even if we do get something I lean to the side that it’ll be a big miller b CAD messy storm with ice and sleet as the primary solution for everybody east of the apps and south of VA. But again, it beats being 70 degrees in winter.

The Crazy Uncle shows another way to score. Drive that Western ridge poleward enough and dump a piece of the TPV into the SE. Rare, but not unheard of, especially with a strong NAO.

Oh, my. For once in its miserable existence, let the Canadian be right.

I find it notable that all of the overnight operationals have multiple shots of Arctic air flooding the country as the New Year rings in.

Get y'all's golfing in early, folks.
Going to hit it today, low 60s for highs. All I've heard for the last week seems like, going to be near 70 Friday. This morning RNK says highs steady near 50. Had a light sprinkle overnight, just enough to wet the grass... 40 degrees

Twister can laugh all he wants but we all know he's in the fetal position reading this board right now seeing all this cold dump showing up right in the middle of his torch. 🤣
