Pattern Outside of the SE thread

I was supposed to have a low of 28 tonight, but its already 23.7. No WWA at all, but whatever comes in looks like it will be snow. Maybe an inch total by tomorrow evening, then back down to 7 degrees tomorrow night. Did make it up to 37.8 freaking degrees today!😍

Your area and much of the Midwest is likely headed to at least an 80 percentile (top 15) and quite possibly 90+ percentile (top 7) coldest Dec 1-20 since 1950.
Its been very cold. Sooo many days never get to freezing. 4 snows since November 8, including last night. Hell, its flurrying rn. 31.3 down from 32.5 earlier.

Yeah the big thing I hate about "up north" is when the snow turns into disgusting piles everywhere 😜

And more people talking about how it used to snow more than this already on December 7th ha

You know I almost bought a house in Blackwell OK before I got this one. Then I read about all the huge tornadoes they had in past years..lol

Haha you know I'm sure our luck will run out eventually but since I've been here there hasn't been much

Then again I grew up in Alabama and was there on 4/27/11 when 300 people died(and we weren't that close to one) so I mean... Tornadoes aren't really that bad to me I guess because they are so localized at the end of the day

My closest scare so far was actually in Dallas at night on the day after Christmas. Go figure

The worst storm since I've been here was 100 mph winds at midnight lol that thing did more widespread damage than a tornado will probably ever do

People talk about how hard it is to get a big snow here a lot but I feel like it's the same way about the truly bad tornado days... 99 percent of them nothing really happens I guess

I also feel like we're a bit more protected up here for whatever reason(there are more hills and usually it takes forever to get over here) and it's worse towards 35 and OKC

One thing about living in Indiana I remember is a lot of people talked about the Great Blizzard of 78. It must have been a doozy.

I do think it's slightly ironic when people talk about it used to snow here more. Even some well known people hint at something has changed(maybe they just don't wanna argue I get that). I mean our biggest snowstorm and snowiest winter ever was in 2010-2011 not to mention February 2021 😂 which okay could have snowed more I guess but it was still a lot of snow for 2 weeks that didn't melt

I mean no I don't like how inconsistent it is some years where it barely does anything but we always get some big and awful years every decade and have already had them both this one

And apparently before Christmas Eve 2009 we had never even had a blizzard in the city... So I don't know what people are talking about. It's always random and has to line up perfect here to be a big storm to begin with. A lot of times it's just a bunch of light events. Like January 1979 when it snowed like half the month and the biggest day was 2 inches

Still even that has trended a lot warmer from what it was

I remember when the whole weekend was below freezing. NWS high is now 56(!) Saturday and 40 Sunday

I thought you were being sarcastic because of how cold the weekend is forecasted to be.

2-3” today, hopefully another 3-6” Saturday! Hope I can get in a ski trip in the next week, before summer starts! IMG_3882.jpegIMG_3883.jpegIMG_3880.png

This counts as a white Christmas, yes?? Guess the torch will be muted at this point!??⛄IMG_3884.png

In the sea of torch and warm air... Sunday is staring us right in the face haha. I am actually curious if the torch can last all the way to Christmas here... I mean it's still insanely far out FB_IMG_1765492943676.jpg

Some rain forecasts here next week!

Finally some rain. 2025 had way below average precipitation.

I might the only non-US member in this forum.
Our annual precipitation is only 3 inches. A bit less in the south, a bit more in the north.

2025 YTD amount is only 0.32" here, though some southwestern areas had good thunderstorms in September and October.
