It actually kind of did. It performed 3 MERC (Merging Eyewall Replacement Cycles) but this never caused Melissa to waver, the outer rings just merged with the insane inner and continued like nothing happened. Never seen a storm do this before on this scale.
 
Hopefully Josh is able to punch the eye. A little worried that northward jog will mess him up
 
Sounds like Josh may have been able to get part of the eye if he's able to speak to Ryan Hall?

Unlikely he gets the lowest pressure though considering the NNW shifts.

Edit: actually he's just pointing out that he's in Crawford lol. He didn't get the exact center of the eye, but has successfully gotten part of it.

Spalding is pretty well inland in hilly terrain. I'd imagine that same scene will play out in many areas across the island.

On another note, while Melissa has spared Kingston of the worse effects (although flooding is obvious concern), its making a beeline towards Montego Bay. That area is the 2nd population center on the island. They may get significant surge as the storm leaves the island and the winds shift.
 
Per Brad P live feed, Santa Cruz is now flooding. Also, large portions of many towns (homes and cars) are now being swept away by extreme flash flooding coming off the mountains. The way he is talking it sounds catastrophic. One town he mentioned is Mandeville.
