Pattern Jarring January

The gefs mean is picking up on two different systems next one in the 31st-2nd range and one later in the week it’s not one specific system

But specially there was a big increase for the 31st -2nd possible system vs previous runs. Still though needs more support from other models

Charlie,
If this is not appropriate - tell me and I'll bump.
It just seems that 2 weeks ago, and less, we were supposed to be in a near deep freeze tonight/tomorrow, and this week. Now we're talking New Years or after for some action.
Be that as it may, if models keep pushing cold and snow back, maybe, just maybe, maybe, that's a good sign for Jan, since at least it's not a NINA torch we're staring down.
Son's plane arrives real soon, so I'm outa here ...
Best!
Phil

Storm is getting started out west at 144 hours. Let’s see where we go!

Deeper trough south of Newfoundland & New England now at day 3 is increasing confluence over the eastern seaboard, hence our s/w is getting sheared to bits and suppressed southeastward potentially into oblivion as each successive suite emerges... Still more than enough time for this to change however

Man im pumped, many more runs to go. It wouldn't take much for this thing to pound Alabama in future runs.

-2 in north Alabama! I have never seen a negative degree reading in my 23 years of life that I can remember in Alabama. I love cold weather, but I’m hoping that Webb is right when it comes to the GFS having the cold bias this far out. That is some stupid cold air!! Is euro showing those crazy temps to?

D10 system in Gulf on GGEM for Jan 4th...

Much better look than a few days ago with the ridge pumping out west. Also intriguing is a little more separation and you get a rare double punch right there.

CMC trying to have another ICE storm around the 4th

If one or more of these systems verifies and there is a decent snow pack those insane cold temperatures will definitely be an issue

Models are showing days of at or below freezing temps here with a couple of single digit nights, not sure the last time I saw ponds, creeks, etc actually freeze over.... this has that potential for sure

Keep in mind, its showing that stupid cold due to the snow/ice. But dang thats cold lol.

Going back a week ago the GFS wasn't that far off with the 2m temps for Christmas morning. The big difference was timing of the front. Next week's Cold has legs...

Big snows don't happen in AL with temps that are that cold. Air would be so dry that it might snow a foot but we never see a flake. Need to see moisture with temps in the upper 20's.

That system happens before and while those temps are dropping. The crazy temps don’t happen until after the storm has passed.
