A 1043 high sitting right over PA and just a crippling ice storm down south with lows in the teens during the storm

20s in South Carolina and near 80 in Orlando on the GFS Christmas Day 
Wasn't there an ice storm around Christmas also around 1998 ?
I’ll take that run of the GFS and run away with it.

Lol and the GFS trys to have a snow storm on top on the ice storm. I love winter weather. But if they run can true. I would be out of power for a week and i really need to watch my dawgs beat Okalahoma in the rose bowl!!

I've seen a mild ice storm before on the day after Christmas....been a while though. I think either that winter or next winter it also snowed in Brownsville.

And uhm, the only thing we can take from this, is that there is a large signal for a Wintry event around Christmas in the Southern areas. Don't get too excited yet! It will change.

Not to be a grinch, but 12/25 at ATL is tied for the date with the most major icestorms in their history going back to 1879: 3! 12/25 is tied with 1/23 and 1/30. The 3 12/25 icestorms were all cold neutral ENSO, i.e. not too far from the current weak La Nina.
