Dang snow hole here off Lake Wheeler, hope that Last band holds together

I went out about half an hour ago to measure the final snowfall total and I got around 5 inches. I would imagine if we had subfreezing temps like we did in January 2014, those totals probably would be closer in the 8-10 inch range since we wouldn't of had as much melting. Nonetheless it's a gorgeous winter wonderland and turned out to be a better snowstorm than I anticipated.

EDIT: It's still snowing even though the main concentration of precip is moving E of us right now.

Just updating this post with a picture of the measurement I did in the grass in my front yard. It was actually just shy of 5 inches.

Ripping snow but tiny little flakes.... radar not looking as promising, think I'm running out of time

5.5 in my grass. If that early morning band had stuck and not melted we would had likely ended up with 10+

Roads are gonna be a disaster tonight. All still soaked and most have snow in the medians and the ground is still piled up. Lows in the teens and lower 20s with snow falling out of trees into roads is gonna be a huge battle tonight. Hope there isn’t much wind.

I'll tell ya, I think I figured out my favorite kind of snow TV today and it's not actually snow in progress. We saw our first real signs of the snow event just past Conyers and as we turned further and further northwest the totals would get higher and higher. Until we had a good period of time, at least 45 minutes to an hour, in which you could tell this area was hardest hit with snow, there was still mostly all coverage and the trees too, despite it being midafternoon.

Man, the trees were beautiful to watch as we continued NW. I got so sucked in that I was not paying attention when my mom tried to talk to me (I was NOT driving at this point, did drive earlier tho).

The actual total snow still in LaFayette is a bit disappointing, but you can tell it snowed here. I still think they had more than 1" (about 3" based on a picture of a grill I saw yesterday) or there'd be NOTHING left anywhere.

It feels odd to enjoy the aftermath, as the area I was in yesterday saw 0", but I did. I still want another possibility to track in the future.

I'm driving I am driving from Birmingham to Northeast Georgia, just crossed over the state line into Georgia and I can honestly say I haven't seen this much snow on the ground since the blizzard of 93

I wouldn't say that. 10 inches of snow is a lot but it's not unprecedented. We will see it again.
Yeah but in early December ? I think i can safely say i will never see this much snow this time of year ever again. Heck before yesterday i had never seen snow on the ground before Mid Dec.
