No doubt this was probably the greatest board wide event in early December since 1896... Quite a historic storm, the fact that it snowed from northern Mexico to Florida right on the Gulf coast still blows my mind we haven't done that since Feb 1899 and of course in that month icebergs were floating out in the Gulf of Mexico, lake Pontchartrain completely froze over, blizzard conditions were reported in Tampa Bay, and the snow fell in NC with temps in the low-mid single digits. Crazy we somehow found a way to compete with that wrt snowfall on the Gulf Coast

Wow I missed a lot. I went on a cruise last week. Ported in new Orleans this morning and started seeing snow on the ground in slidell LA. Snow all in south mississippi.
Went from 85 in progress MX yesterday to 32 in Nola this morning

And folks where driving cars across some of the sounds that where completely frozen.

So I saw the closest thing to roof collapsing snow. Weight of snow ripped a neighbor’s gutters right off the house.

Will FFC do any sort of synopsis/post-mortem about this event with a final snowfall accumulation map? Seems like they would

Repeat of the year 1899? Very unlikely, but it makes you wonder. You know what they say, history repeats itself.

33.7. Ended up with about 10.5” here. Epic storm. Quite a bit still on the ground this afternoon as well.

Not enough lift at 700mb

It should improve shortly... best lift still just west of RDU. I think we have a brief window of opportunity honestly

Ended up with 8" of snow on the ground, and probably lost at least an inch to melting. No matter. It was just unbelievable yesterday.

To the question above, yes, FFC will do a post-storm analysis. Usually takes them a couple of day to finish collecting data. There are some good ones from storms past in the archive (can't remember where exactly on their site, but I've seen em).

A huge thank you to everybody for the great discussion. For those of us who were blessed to see a storm for the ages, any further flakes this winter is nothing but gravy.

Congrats to all those south of me who got some serious snow yesterday. I missed out on this one but I did receive my first Fluries of the season this morning. I had light Fluries off and on for about 2 hours. It didn’t stick as temp was 33 degrees but I cannot complain as it’s still early December.

CC showing transition line just about completely through here now, hoping those heavier bands will be all snow....

The dark green and yellow bands drop glorious cotton balls. In between bands it's sleet and baby flakes
