Was able to find a few higher quality images of the map shared by Belarus’s President today. Note NATO positions in blue, and what looks like a push in to Moldova. Imperialism is strongly rooted in Russian history.

But seriously though. I can't figure out if intentional or incompetence.
What's the joke? Maybe it's over my head.
It refers to the presidential line of succession. If POTUS dies, it then goes to the Vice President....then the Speaker of the House...etc.
Anyway, usually these individuals are in different locations. But during the state of the union address, a whole bunch of the people that would succeed the president are in the same location. So if the unthinkable happens and somehow something happens to eliminate lots of these individuals (like someone bombing the place), the line of succession would go down the list pretty far. The designated survivor is someone on the list that is purposely in a different location, and would be the acting president in an unfortunate situation.
The reason that this is a joke is because this year--considering that nuclear tensions are a bit higher than usual (because of current events with Ukraine) there is perhaps a higher importance than usual on a designated surviver. And therefore a higher than usual chance of being funny. (whether or not this is actually funny or disturbing probably depends on your own personal preference and how screwed up you are mentally, lol)
On another note, I think I heard earlier that the designated survivor tonight was the commerce secretary. I have no idea who that is.

I thought that it was UK officials saying this, but overall, I don’t fully disagree.
Those saying that this is likely to be Russia’s modern day Afghanistan will likely be proven right. Putin did something that MAY MAY have worked not long after the Soviet Union dissolved, but Ukraine now views itself as a western country and that is what most of the country at least wants now, so the fight for that is likely to go on for a long time.

Good part is that creates an immediate roadblock that other Russian forces can't just plow through. Set up on alternative routes and hit them again as they maneuver around trying to find their way in.

We still buying Oil from Russia today as I type along with the rest of NATO/World. Now at $108 per barrel and climbing. Not one move to get off of it. Puttin is gonna get control & destroy Ukraine and sale his cash crop at record profit margins. We ( civilized World) sending in all the sympathy and aid we all can now, But its months to late for the Ukrainians. God bless them, left on an island as the token so the rest of the west doesn't have to escalate the bully.

We cant just stop buying oil, if we do and gas prices jump several dollars it will hurt the US people and economy to much.....it has to be stepped down....US oil companies could offset it if they would increase production, also times like this is why we have the strategic oil reserve....

I could see this become a limited type conflict where NATO clashes with Russia, I think you will see aid trying to be flown in at some point, NATO and the EU are not going to let millions of people starve to death in the Ukraine, especially the large surrounded cities.....and Russia ( Putin ) will not want aid to get in because the sick ---- is trying to starve people to force the Ukraine government to surrender. The trick will be limiting the conflict to Ukraine....

This is the acme of stupidity on a military level. It's this incompetence that leads to far more civilian death and destruction than there should be. It leads to a level it "to be sure" attitude which is obvious the last couple days

This is pure saber-rattling on their part. The only way they launch nukes is if they think they can achieve a destructive first strike or if they are in danger of losing a conventional war with a more powerful foe.

I get that they missed the TV tower with the missiles but for those who don't know what Babi Yar is...
Seeing how all this has been playing out has so many similarities to the past. Now we are talking about surrounding cities to starve the people. I mean what's the difference compared to the Germans? Growing up in the DC area you tend to take a ton of field trips to the holocaust museum, it's always a rough day. I never actually thought I still lived In a world where this type of thing could play out again. I don't think there's a way the world sits back and watches that. In the 40s when we didn't have the internet maybe, but not now.

I mean its happened before, Berlin airlift comes to mind, Russia shooting down unarmed relief flights would be a game changer for a lot of the hold out nations that havent sanctioned them etc....hard to defend shooting down planes full of food for starving kids. If they did however I could see NATO putting up a CAP and clear out the Russians from the airspace and heavily interdict their AA capabilities with limited strikes. IT is a dangerous game and a slippery slope, but at some point we have to decide is the threat of Putin and his nukes enough to let him run over any country he wants?

The Truth. Those who blindly believe the media arent terribly wise. One other point i will make. When we see a column of Russian vehicles sitting in the road and wish they would be obliterated lets not forget 1 thing. People are in those vehicles. People who dont know you, Dont hate you, Dont want to kill you and just want to come back home alive. I feel awful for every person getting killed on every side but its not our fight. I am fine with sanctions. I am not fine with involving ourselves in a war where we really have no idea of the consequences of our actions.
Not to get off the topic but a note on perspective. 2 countries, Russia and China. The last 2 years which country might have accidently released a lab created virus that has killed millions worldwide and almost a million here? Which country has repeatedly lied about it and covered up information? How many other people died due to the lockdowns expecially in poor countries. Millions. Now, its clearly up for debate on how much responsibility China bears for this but one thing i know. Russia hasnt done a darn thing to me and anything they are doing now pales in comparison to the last 2 years. No sanctions for China?
Dont let the media shape your opinion. When you see anything presented as gospel just ask, "But is this really the Case?"
