Speaking verbatim, the pattern probably wouldn't work in winter. The TPV lobe is too far south. it needs to be exiting towards Atlantic Canada, otherwise you'd just get a spinny low-pressure system.

GEFS suite: yes initially but it then catches up in the SE and even gets colder.

But on EPS: it is about as cold or colder throughout almost the entire run.
