Misc 2020/21 Fall and Winter Whamby Thread

In all honesty, a storm of this magnitude is very overdue for most parts of the region! I also love the intense cold that follows subsequently due to the excessive snow cover.
 
Is there a reason for being so strict on "banter" now? Not sure why everything has to be treated so seriously and people have to put every non-technical post in here. Makes it hard to know what is okay and what isn't to post in the regular threads.

I don't think they use the GFS. They show snow here next Thursday night and no model shows that from what I have seen. Either way it's a damn good thing to see! ❄☃️

There was only bright red where there should have been blue
The Euro had spoken, “There is no snow for you!”

My head hung in sadness while I sat there and pondered
Would ensembles be worth staying up for, I wondered?
Would a miracle await, would Christmas some through?
Could the wintriest of all wintry wishes come true?

But soon to my senses I came with a bound
Closed out the window and shut the site down.
Then off to the bedroom, I turned with a jerk
Three hours of sleep was the night’s only perk.

As I pillowed my head and tucked in the sheet
Distressed that the Euro is so hard to beat
I knew in my heart that this snowstorm was done
At least until dawn and the next 6z run.

There is a banter thread, whamby thread, man cave thread, gardening thread, and many other threads to reminisce, talk about pants explosions, complain, post gifs and so on. I don't think it's too much to ask that the main monthly thread at least be fairly related to the weather.

Here's an example of what is a pattern thread post vs whamby/banter

Pattern: the gfs jumped about 500 miles north on the 18z vs 12z hard to believe that much of a change
Whamby/Banter: I knew it you can't trust models last day x!!! Winter cancel

It's really about keeping things orderly and in their correct location. Off topic/banter posts have a tendency to lead snowball into numerous banter posts that clutter up the discussion thread. This leads to us getting messages and reports from members regarding those posts. This isn't strictly staff saying We MuSt StOp BaNtEr!! This is being asked for by your peers
