Have a buddy that's working in roxboro this week. He said they got about 5.5. Not sure how accurate that is though
Roanoke city, lower elevation got usWhat part of Roanoke are you in? I live in the Cave Spring area and we picked up around 2 1/2 inches here. Roads were snow covered as well.
Lower elevation didnt seem to impact Roanoke Rapids. They are only 150 ft !Roanoke city, lower elevation got us
The issue was is that we started as heavy rain and normally because of the city, the surface temp is always 2-3 degrees warmer than surrounding counties. Takes longer for that switch to occur and when it did, the yellow radar echoes were just to the south.Lower elevation didnt seem to impact Roanoke Rapids. They are only 150 ft !
Looks like it was still 41 at midnight, anyways. The winter of mild misery continues...0 sign of any snow in Raleigh ! Wow. Even back home though most of the stuff even in the shade is gone . no where stayed below freezing today even the areas with most snow. RDU hasn’t had any sub 40 highs this month and only 1 this entire winter . It’s 39 currently at RDU so decent chance inter obs may have touched 40.
Yea, I'm on top of a hill in Penn Forest and got 2+ but was hard to guess because it was blowing around so places I normally measure were contaminated by chunks blowing out of trees. I was all snow by 1115.The issue was is that we started as heavy rain and normally because of the city, the surface temp is always 2-3 degrees warmer than surrounding counties. I went up to mill mountain to witness the changeover and it went from a little mixing to full on whiteout in about 10 minutes. I could barely see anything in front my car. As I was driving down the mountain it was going from snow to rain and when I got down to the city level it was almost all rain. 15 minutes later it was all snow at the city level.Yea, I'm on top of a hill in Penn Forest and got 2+ but was hard to guess because it was blowing around so places I normally measure were contaminated by chunks blowing out of trees. Nam was way late to the party but in the end was closer to right with amounts. I did not see the NRV guys post from Bburg or Cburg. Bet they did much better at 2000 feet +
Congrats NE NC folks!
well considering that CMC snowfall output is 10:1, if you adjust for ratios, it pretty much nailed this thing in the piedmont and coastal areas of NC..
We got between 3-4 inches. Ground still totally covered with afternoon Temps only in the mid 20s.Yea, I'm on top of a hill in Penn Forest and got 2+ but was hard to guess because it was blowing around so places I normally measure were contaminated by chunks blowing out of trees. Extremely off topic but... Nice Prius! I have that exact same model & color. Absolutely love the mileage!Pure paste snow here in Zebulon area. Already getting close to 0.5" with solid accumulation all around. Some slush on the road. Snowing at rate of 0.25-0.5"/hr... impressive for NC.

I took a walk mid afternoon and there was literally no evidence left it even snowed here, not even in the shaded parts!
I took a drive around the area today and I definitely ended up in a local screw job. There’s still snow on the ground in shaded areas a few miles from MBY whereas my place has zilch left even yesterday afternoon. Makes me more bitter about this storm than I already was, oh well. ?
I tend to doubt my backyard even saw 1” after getting around the area some.

I still have a bit of snow in the shade . The cold rain will do it in though once and for all. I have more snow in the shade than Harnett county guy has received in 3 years .I took a drive around the area today and I definitely ended up in a local screw job.
