Misc 2020/21 Fall and Winter Whamby Thread

Deee Teee is over on the other board touting a weakening La Nina toward the end of winter. Thats all good and can't hurt but it may be a little too late for us down here. We need to keep the Atlantic side somewhat favorable and maybe when the Pac reshuffles we can score occasionally. But a big vortex over AK is not a pattern that you get out of quickly.

Both La Niña and El Niño usually weaken toward the end of winter. Despite the weakening, La Niña is typically warmest in late winter and El Niño is typically coldest in late winter. So, I think DeeTee is grasping at something that isn’t important since it usually happens that way.

Not in my neck of the woods, dealing with a bad service line since August. They replaced it with temp on top of the ground and whenever it gets wet our internet goes out ?‍♂️. Supposedly coming out tomorrow, probably another temp fix though ugh

Looks like we're set up for another nice looking cold push early next week. This December is the gift that keeps on giving! Coldest anomalies imby where they belong.

My advice is go where the money is ! Whatever university offers the best combo of affordability and opportunity is where I’d go. Personally I’d probably weigh affordability higher lol. Don’t be the guy going to the University of Kansas because you just want to “leave home” and “ find yourself”and experience something new . Talk about a great way to waste money.

That’s me though, god knows if I was in your shoes again I’d do everything differently .

Agree with this. I took the cheaper option and am financially a lot better off than my peers now because of it.

Of course, if you can get into Yale or whatever, that’s different, but I find it hard to justify going to a public university out of state unless there’s a really compelling reason to go there. It’s just so much more expensive!

Yeah my main reason is because I want to major in meteorology, and the only option in state being College of Charleston (which is just simply not for me, I already know). If it doesn’t work financially though I’ll obviously stay in state and of course stay a hobbyist

I wish I had gone to the local community college for the first two years to take all the core courses that everyone has to take and then transferred to a four-year school for my major courses. It would have saved a lot of money and probably would have been a lot easier.

Oh yeah, that’s a good point! Well, I guess that would be a compelling reason, then. Is going to a NC state school any cheaper for a SC resident, or is it the regular out of state rate?

NC State and UNC-Ashville have meteorology programs.

Well, the only thing Id add is if Meteorology is something you are sure of Id go out of state and incur the financial burden anyhow. Especially If I feel confident in it paying off. What's wrong with the College of Charleston though? Did you apply to NC State? It's all one big risk vs reward thing lol. They don't stress that at all in high school, they just tell you to apply to college and wing it.

Yeah I applied to three schools with met, UNCC NCSU and VT

That's kind of what I'm doing, though I'm in a program so that I should finish my first two years free of charge by the time I graduate high school!

Me when @SD and @metwannabe are raining when everyone else is snowing

It’s just like summer time when @SD watches thunderstorms die in the pooper justttt north of him. So close he can smell the burnt hair of peoples behinds from the lightning up the road . I haven’t seen anything here either , doesn’t mean nothing fell though.

Might just move near KC, they have more snow, more severe, better chasing terrain to its west , and a better football team

For a couple of years, then they have to resign their receivers and other players with contracts due and find they can’t pay to keep them because of that massive contract they gave Mahomes.
