That ULL is what has my attention for my area. It has been very consistent on the GFS and CMC the last 6 runs or so.

GFS really keeping up with that anomalous bowling ball rolling through the TN valley. It actually taps into the warm gulf moisture compared to the 12z run. Still, really strange.

It seems to me like the good snows seem to be the ones that kinda pop up out of nowhere. The ones that are on the models 7-10 days out seem to never materialize.

I agree. The setup is ripe to give us some type of closed system aloft and the air mass is just cold enough.

What is it about Early December ? That seems to be our best period for snow now based on the last few years.
I do think that this pattern is going to last longer than the first week, maybe even lasting until the third week of December.

Could this be the first year in 10 years we actually have a below normal December ? We are certainly due.
As long as we keep getting this anomalous ridging over the top things are going to try to get weird to the south of it.
Its a great look to close off at h5 and get a monster deformation band on the backside of any system.

One thing that I'm concerned about is how far south this ridge is. Further north into Canada would make me happy, I think that any wave that tries to come in from the west coast would get squashed.
