Misc Jalapeño July

You should start to do better even as it dries out over here in the western Carolinas once the northwest flow gets going. Downsloping usually keeps the area just east and south of the mountains dry, while storms fire along I-77 and the move east. The Raleigh area should do well with these. Tenn and Al will do well too.
I hope we haven't had a nice line along the lee trough all summer really

If theres something I cant stand its a weather pattern that gets stuck and wont budge. Thats what it seems like we're going through now. I just want a change. Tired of rain every day.

JFWIW
But what the heck has Hudson Bay on fire ... and Superior in the fridge ... (???)

Just one reason to be a bit cynical ... but hey, it is Thursday evening and it's after 9:00 PM ...

Be careful of what you wish for haha. Being hot and humid with rain and storms every day and temps in the 90s is a whole lot better imo than being stuck in a drought, being dangerously hot and humid with highs well into the 100s and dealing with heat advisories every day.

Perfectly said, Webb. ;)

I dont like either option. Is it not possible to be dry in the summer and have temps below normal or are rain and clouds the only way to have below normal temps in the summer ? I just want tolerable humidity, temps in the 80s and sunny skies for a few days.

Rain and clouds are pretty much the only way to do it unless the background climate cools considerably, we're screwed... It's okay though, in the Miocene greenhouse we used to be considerably hotter and our winter average temperatures were in the 70s, with summers being ~10-15F warmer than they are today... Talk about intolerable

I just want snow in Gainesville, FL ... but hey - it doesn't happen ... so going to what is and can be ... a damp cool summer beats the alternative (which can and is happening pretty much region wide), and I'm squarely in Webb's corner on his thoughts ... FWIW
Now post-truncation bedtime ... :p

Sounds like Bogota.

The 0z Euro puts a major heat ridge right over all of us in the long range with 850mb temps up to 23c. If this is right we have 2-3 days of near 100 coming.

Fear not the Euro ensembles keep the ridge west of your area

Also huge difference between the Gfs and euro

I'm not onboard until the 130s start showing up! :)

A few warm days next week ( nothing out of the ordinary) then normal to below with fairly high rain chances . Hard to believe we are headed into mid July with no big heat wave in sight

JHS will love the 12z euro . The ridge that was showing on the 00z run is gone this run

The wet summer continues...I've had measurable rain every day this month and the past 9 consecutive days since 6/29. Currently sitting at 3.72" as of this morning for July. It's rained briefly three times today and now more is about to roll in. Just barely finally got my lawn mowed after trying for over a week. Insane! I had 8.09" fall last month!! I guess I shouldn't be complaining...it's kept temperatures down for the most part. Only have had 1 high above 90 and that was 90.2 on 6/15. Not bad for Summer! :-D

That 594dm ridge is still over the southeast for 2 days on the 12z Euro with 850's above 20c.

We've had several 2-3 day heat " waves", that were followed by 7-10 day stretches of at or below normal. So this is not shocking. Hell, I think we've had more troughs in the east the first half of summer, than we had all last winter!! I love this summer!

Meh... it's extremely brief and the highs are nothing out of the ordinary

95 96 96 sucks and you cant sugarcoat it. Maybe down in the birminghamazon things haven't been that hot but this month has been nothing but 89-94 here

Point is , it's nothing unusual and nothing long term . We have been lucky as hell so far with the core of the heat setting up out west and in the northern plains. A few days of mid 90s isn't gonna kill anyone .

I have been lucky, had plenty of rain but it's still been hot . Low 90s with dew points in the 70s . But hell its summer in the south and that's why we hate it

We in the upstate got missed to the South today. Tomorrows frontal passage in the late afternoon , brings promise of better coverage and maybe a few severe, we will see! That's our last chance until about mid August, if you listen to JHS! :(

It's also your last chance before the " heatwave "
