So should I be able to work at home for an indefinite amount of time since employees with children might be infected due their children being a carrier?
You’ll be fine. Hurry up and get those T cells before this thing mutates again.

This will be the trend. Small buz, companies realizing that they can cut overhead, allow employees to work from home, and still maintain production and revenue. My wife and I have worked from home for quite a while now. Her staff have online meetings with her, the job gets done, and its fairly convenient.

Restaurants are finding new avenues to reach patrons and have shifted largely imo. Sure dine in will be back to full at some point but several businesses locally are doing great curbside.

So I should recieve less wage because someone else wants to send their child to school? If that's the case do I get a tax break on the % that goes towards funding schools?
Only less wages is what I think on productivity. Obviously my guess is a lot of parents could possibly be less productive having kids at home unless they hire a baby sitter. Can companies pay same amount if productivity is less? Possibly a tax break could be figured in by each state. ??‍♂️

I believe yes if that’s your choice. Now obviously it’s up to the company. I would say most companies that allow this will go less wages in the future. Or base pay on amount of productivity that is done. If it’s not something that can be done then I say the employee is given a severance pay for an amount of time. Then both go separate ways. Obviously factory jobs can not do this so there is many looking for jobs. It sucks but as has been said. We may never have a vaccine so we just have to push thru this virus until everyone has been exposed. No easy answers or way for us all. Just hope for the best.

Herd immunity, everyone being exposed is just gonna add to the death toll and likely not bring any real herd immunity that lasts. It's a craps-shoot at best.

Will I? Had cancer and chemotherapy no idea how my body will react to the virus. I may have no symptoms I may die. Might as well get hammered and play Russian roulette this weekend
How is your prognosis? Cancer free now? I just found out today that my stepmom (who lives with my dad) is Covid positive and is totally asymptomatic. My dad is feeling better but has had an extremely tough 2 weeks. My fiancé’s sister waited all week to be tested today. She is presumptive positive. I’m 90% sure my 2 year old had it last week with mild symptoms. My fiancé has had no symptoms. My point is, this thing is just running through the population hiding as asymptomatic in many cases. Do we just hide inside for the rest of the decade? I wish I had the answers.

If it makes you feel any better, I am in the highest risk group being a juvenile diabetic but I had minimal issues. I’m not sure why, but that was my reality.

Curbside is doing great but many here that I know are not going to open dine in back up anymore. They are only going to be drive thru or curbside. If the trend continues with schools staying closed. You will have a lot of unemployment’s coming with teachers and staffs. A lot less buildings to be built for businesses and less construction jobs. Also many stares will have to raise taxes for online learning because less money coming into schools from kids attending and sports. How long does everyone think schools and colleges and sports can stay closed? Colleges are bleeding money right now. Pro sports? How long can they not play till the pros start crying they need money? That’s the question can we all stay locked down for another year or two? Is it financially feasible?

Colleges have been sucking kids dry for decades. They can bleed a little and will be ok. I said early on that the economy was going to crash whether under the weight of the virus or through containment methods. Our only real datasets to go off which is Sweden bore that out to be true. They never shutdown and have way more deaths than their neighbors, and their economy contracted MORE then some of their neighbors.

As we have transitioned from spring into the summer on thing has remained unchanged. There is no good path forward. They all suck.

I am good to go and approaching cancer free for a decade. The issue is some of the longer term impacts of chemo never get better, I still have ringing in my ears and lung scarring, this leaves me uncomfortable and unsure that I would be able to recover like a normal 37 year old.

Hiding inside for a decade doesn't make sense but neither does sending everyone out into crowded space again and acting like it doesn't exist. Like you said I wish I had the answer as well and no matter what decision is made someone is going to get the ---- end of the stick. I just wanted to present my thought process into this thread instead of seeing the rampant "oh the virus isn't a big deal" or "open schools" or "well the death % rate is getting lower" posts.

My thoughts are with you. I am also high risk also my mother is. We both go out and try and be smart and keep distance. Masks if required and wash hands. It sucks and it’s scary but we both realize we really are not in control of our lives. When it’s our time we can not avoid it. I do think this virus is a big deal and it’s sad any death from the virus. As we all know there is no easy answer on what to do. Just sucks.

Trump is a fool if he thinks threatening to take fed funds from schools that dont reopen is going to win him support anywhere with anyone outside of his core supporters and even they might see this as stupid.....though the kool aid is strong with them..

Given the current state of the virus in the US.....I am sure there will be places that can open that shouldn't and places that shouldn't open that do but that is the decision best made on the local and state level.....and no school system should be punished for doing what is best and safest for the kids....what kind of asshole threatens to take kids school funding away for personal political propaganda......

He doesn’t have the power to do that.

The thing about the bolded is that we are in some control over our lives. We makes choices daily that will shape the outcome of accidents. Wearing a helmet bike riding, seat belt when driving. These are things we do to control our lives to the best of our ability.

Where we start crossing lines IMO is when we take an attitude of "we have no control of our lives" and transition that into a public ideal on policy. When a policy position is pushed because you feel like what will happen will happen doesn't suit me and my attempt to do everything I can to stop the spread and protect not only my family but others as well.
